The Oasis Cafe & Motel

Stop! Turn around.. this place is a diamond in the rough.

A friend and I stopped here on a recommendation from the hotel clerk. So glad we did. We sat at the counter.. and were fed so much food we fell out of our chairs.  The cook saw I was wearing a disney t-shirt and decided that my buttermilk pancakes were going to be mickey pancakes. HEY! bonus!  The place isn't much to look at.. and is run down.. but it's clean and tasty.

We stayed here on a road trip back home and this place is really in the middle of nowhere, there isn't another town for quite a few miles.

It's pretty clear that the locals all frequent the cafe here, which is great. Small town feel without that creepy I'm-in-the-middle-of-nowhere vibe. The people were super nice, we came in pretty late in the evening but had called ahead to reserve our room. We had the handicapped room, big bathroom with the shower bench and support rails on the walls, king bed, mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Privately owned and operated.

Overview:
-They do not provide shampoo/conditioner/lotion/whatever
-They do provide fixings for coffee
-In Room A/C unit
-No TV
-Provide deck of cards and some dice (super unique and cool I think)
-Shower water pressure changes if other people are taking showers
-If you leave the outside light on at night, there will be lots of little bugs at your door
-Very nice, clean, new room

Strange little stop in the middle of no where but decent food and friendly service makes it a worthwhile stop.

From the outside this place looks a little scary. It looks like a dump but there is nothing else on the road. I have to say, we sort of were hesitant to try it but hadn't eaten breakfast when we left our hotel in Burns and were famished. After eating,I am really glad we did. I had a tamale omelet (like canned tamales with cheese and egg and it's better than it sounds) and my husband and sons had pancakes and eggs. It was good. Great portions for a good price.

The food is typical hole in the wall road food but the service was great. The woman running the place was super nice and the guys in there all seemed to know each other. It had a good atmosphere and was a worthwhile place to stop. Even though there was only one waitress and about 5 tables full of locals, she was quick and efficient.

If we were going through the area again, we'd plan on it being our pit stop.
