I frequent this location more than the others but it is not consistent due to changing management. I always enjoy my time here, but the service is on and off. The beer selection is almost always Top Notch and by far the best in Marysville. I will say the people who have been working at this location for the last several years are friendly and give it an almost "Cheers" atmosphere. We cannot blame them though for the rotating employees that may give one a bad experience though. If you have not been and live in or around Marysville I highly recommend you go.
Review Source:Would not recommend. Food is average at best and the service is awful.
Servers are slow and could care less. Never check back and the manager just avoids making any kind of eye contact. The food was nothing great and we were there on a slow night.. A Tuesday night. The place was dead which should have been a good indicator but again it was a Tuesday. Seated right away and ordered right away. Food took over an hour to arrive. Server never checked on us and when it finally arrived only after we went looking for her the second time did the food show up, luke warm would be a stretch! This was wings, a burger, Mac -n-Cheese and a wedge salad... Should have been 15 min wait at the most. Burger had a nice flavor but when you are that irritated nothing tastes very good. We even got up and found our own pitcher of ice tea.. It was next to the bar right next to the manager.. Don't waste your time. This place isn't worth your money or time.
I wish I could keep my rating the same for this location, but unfortunately the last couple times I have been here the food has been very sub par, or uninteresting.
Not to mention I got a to-go order, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't a Quesadilla in that box... in fact, I don't know WHAT was in there. I didn't attempt to eat the charred remains. Hopefully my garbage can found it tasty, but my wallet is now $12 lighter and I was hungry for the remainder of the night.
Consistency is still lacking here.
In fact, you might just want to head down the road elsewhere if you're looking to eat, but if you're looking to get tanked and sunburnt on the patio, then this by all means is your destination.
We went here for St Patty's. Lots of our friends live in Marysville so it was one of a few decent bars we could get green beer, good eats, and sit out on the patio.
There were 8 of us. I think like everyone except me got the "unlimited" fish and chips. It's all you can eat, but they take forever to get more orders out to you. The people that got the fried fish (you have a choice blackened, broiled, or fried) said it was mushy under neath the fried part. Gross. I got the Lemon crusted tilapia. It was also mushy and really really fishy. I could not eat it.
The only green beer available was Miller. REALLY? "You can't put green die in my Bud?" Â "No, sorry" was my response. If I can't get a green bud light on St Pattys, I will NOT be back.
But I will say the ambiance of the outdoor bar and patio is sooooo amazing! :o)
I had lunch here, so I can't say that I tried their menus tastier items. I had a chicken sandwich with fries. I thought that the fries were a bit on the skimpy side (a colleague of mine had much more, and we ordered similar sandwiches). I mentioned this to the waitress, and she kindly brought an entire BASKET of fries.
Then I had too many, but I appreciated the gesture. They were freshly fried, too, and piping hot.
The patio outside in the summer is nice if you can get under the umbrellas over the table, sit in the wrong direction and your neck becomes burnt...
Overall, nice joint. Not a destination place for me though, and I wouldn't have gone if I didn't work nearby.
Glad to have The Old Bag of Nails in Marysville ! ..... I've been going to the Grandview & Delaware Locations for years  + the other locations that are around Columbus .  Overall .... A great Pub with Big Fish n Chips .... Good Sandwiches .... Cool Beer ..... A Nice , but small , location in Marysville with an outdoor patio . 5 Meoows :) Read my other Reviews to find more places that you might like to discover
Review Source:We meet my in-laws here every once in awhile (they live in Indiana) and it's a great place to hang out and visit for awhile. We always really enjoy our food and the servers are wonderful.
The only complaint is...it's pretty chilly inside so if you tend to get cold easily, bring a sweater!
Old Bag has been a staple in my life, from it's Grandview locations when my brother was in college, to the Hard Road location close to home, and now the Marysville location for my Thursday night Beerclub meetings with the guys.
The inside is tight - more than once we've crammed too many people in to a booth, but the staff was quick to squeeze around and (good naturedly) hassle us. The staff feels like friends, and when the patio is open - it's a great place to be. The wraps, the burgers, the happy hour - they never disappoint.
What's better than a pint with some fish n chips? Â Ok so yeah a million dollars, but who's counting? Â The Marysville OBON is pretty small compared to some of the other locations around Columbus. Â If you're going with a large group, I would definitely call ahead and make sure you get in and/or to make a reservation. Â They have a great outdoor patio for the warmer months with a pretty big outdoor bar.
The brews on tap are plentiful. Â No Bud Light draft, just Miller, but others from additional domestics to imports (Smithwicks, Guinness, etc). Â They also have Woodchuck Cider which I was happy to see. Â Love me some woodchuck. Â
The food has always been very good and very plentiful. Â When ordering their famous Fish & Chips you typically get 2 huge pieces along with a boatload of fries (ahem "chips" to you English folk). Â We got the breaded mushrooms this time and they were really nice. Â Not the generic breading you typically get, but more of a batter consistency.
Call me crazy but I always judge a restaurant on their ranch dressing. Â Is it homemade or generic tasting. Â Well OBON my friends has some mighty good homemade ranch. Â Love it!!
The service has always been very prompt too. Â We've never had any issues with slow service at this location. Â As like Marysville, OBON provides that small hometown pub feel. Â OBON is our "Cheers" if you will. Â I would highly recommend giving it a whirl, or for taking out of town friends or family. Â Yes there are other places for a good beer and food other than Benny's!!
I love this place, but you have to either get there early (before 5:00 PM on weekdays) or after 8:00 PM. Going late is a good thing, though, as they have late-night specials on certain food. Great idea!
I go for Happy Hour every other Friday around 5:00 and there are always seats at the bar for about 15 minutes and then the place is full. Happy Hour includes half-price beer (when else can you get a pint of Guinness for $3 or less??), some liquor (had a Jack and Coke once), and appetizers. I recommend the spinach dip, fried boneless wings, onion rings, and black bean dip. At half price, you can feed two people and have two drinks each for less than $30 (with tip!!).
The only drawback is the size of the place. It's in a great old building with lots of character (as good if not better atmosphere than the rest of the chain). The patio is nice when it's warm out. Even in the rain, the outside bar is covered and would be comfortable.
If you are looking for a bar, go somewhere else. This place is a pub! This place is known for their fried fish. The rest of the food is better than decent, but their fried fish is out of this world. This is not a bar where one goes to escape from their troubles. This is a pub to go to celebrate life. Nothing in the place is healthy, but you can't help but feel good eating and drinking there.
Review Source:If your looking for something healthy and light, you'd better try somewhere else. This Irish Pub style local chain has the best fish sandwich I've ever had (ditto for onion rings). As someone who generally avoids any kind of fried temptations (I rarely even eat french fries), it's good to know of a place where "breaking the rules" seams worthwhile. Â Burgers & chili are also recommended. Â Only complaint is the size of the place- really small, and sometimes a gamble as to whether or not your party will find one of the ~8 tables available. Â Outdoor patio triples the capacity in nice weather, although sitting on this particular street doesn't exactly scream "atmosphere."
