Old Chicago

Staying up here north of Denver, while conducting a housing search.  We decided to stop in for dinner at about 6pm.  It was busy, but not packed.  No wait for our party of 4.

Lots of tv's, with most of them tuned to a Rockies game tonight.   The music was a little on the loud side for having dinner conversation.

Our server, Sarah, promptly introduced herself, and took our drink order.  We received our drinks quickly, and that was the end of the decent service.  She really was not interested in our experience.   We had the Italian nachos, a couple of side salads and a thin crust margarita pizza and calzone.   She did check on us a couple times but it felt insincere.  She refilled one of our waters one time, but mine was empty, and no refill.

The real show of poor service came when she delivered boxes for our leftovers by placing them on our stack of dirty plates!  Hello!  Clear the table!

The salads were decent, nothing outstanding, nothing really horrible.  The pizza crust didn't seem fresh, and the pizza was slightly bland.  I didn't taste the calzone.

I guess I should have stuck to my tradition of dining at independent restaurants, rather than a chain.

My husband was never a huge fan of Old Chicago until we moved to the Thornton area.  With only a small selection of restaurants around us, this is our absolute favorite!  They have new branding, a new look, a better beer selection, and an updated menu.

I LOVE their Tavern Thin Crust pizza and normally I am a fan of the Chicago style crust.  If you haven't tried the thin crust, do yourself a favor and go for it.  I was skeptical at first, but I wouldn't go back to the thick crust if you paid me!  Our new favorite appetizer is the Jalapeno cheddar pretzels.  The Tillamook cheddar is baked right in and the sauce is the same cheese. Amazing!

The service has been great pretty much every time we have gone.  We sit at the bar typically and there is an older gentleman (cannot remember his name) that always serves us.  He likes to make the experience personal - he gets our names and we have playful banter with him.

Great experience and delicious food!  You really can't go wrong.

Come on, it's Old C's. Greasy food, good beer, fair price. Nuff Said.
