Old Mill Restaurant the

We all enjoyed this place a lot. Their menu is pretty basic homestyle food that's done right. Contrary to another review, our service both nights we went here was excellent.

The highlight of this place is the bar/lounge area, complete with boardgames. Beer and Scrabble make for a good time anywhere.

This place has been around for a while, so this review is an aggregation of numerous visits to this dining establishment. Roger K's review of the food is accurate: it's decent. The service is just terrible though. Not from the waiters and waitresses, but from the management and the owners at the door. Just terrible attitudes; could care less about their customers. I  originally assumed this was an individual occurrence, but it's happened frequently enough for me to determine it's closer to the norm.

Food - Good.
Service - Horrendous.

This was a definite find.

We were on a casual drive through the Adirondacks when we were surprised to see deer grazing on the grass in the middle of town.  We decided that we were hungry too and drove through the town to see what our options were.  We chose The Old Mill Restaurant since it looked like it had a lot of character.  It is very rustic inside and outside.

Soup and salad are served family style and while there were only two of us there was enough for four.  Be sure to try the French Onion soup.  The bread was fresh and delicious too.

Entree portions were large enough to send us home with a second serving for the next day.  Entrees were also very flavorful and beef was cooked exactly to the degree requested.

This is a very family friendly restaurant so expect to hear some happy kids nearby.  If you want to be sure of a more quiet dining experience, you might want to ask about dining in the lounge/bar area.

Service was friendly and efficient. We'll definitely want to dine here again if we're driving through town.
