You only have a couple options for dining when at Calico Ghost town, and this is one of them. Â There was a live band playing outside Old Miner's Cafe when we were there, so we decided to get some food and sit on the patio to enjoy the tunes.
I had a ham and cheese sandwich, my husband went with a turkey sandwich. We decided to split a salad instead of fries... Our expectations for the food were not very high, and we ended up pleased with what we got. Other food options included pizza, hot dogs, burritos and nachos... And they sell beer!
Prices are a little steep but that's to be expected, it may be the middle of the desert but it's still California!
2.5 stars. There isn't really much in the way of food here at this little place. There are three eateries at Calico Ghost Town and this is one of them. Â This is just the basics to get you by. Hot dogs, corn dogs, simple sandwiches and some muffins. We weren't expecting much, we just needed a small something to get by until we went out for lunch. Â
My sandwich had some nice sliced bell peppers and carrots in it. I honestly was just expecting iceberg and tomatoes. Â The corn dog was the usual corn dog.
There is a nice patio to sit in with a nice view of all the glorious dirt and rock of the desert. Majestic and amazing in its own deserty way and the way any view of the distant horizen can be. Don't expect fancy or gourmet at Calico. It IS a ghost town, ya know!
