I'm hoping to bring it up to 3 stars here...
Old Number 1 is a place that I don't mind bringing the kids for lunch or dinner. Â We even have business meeting here from time to time- their Lunch buffet is actually really good (although I don't typically see too many people ordering it).
The staff is friendly- they'll throw Grenadine in your soda if you ask for it and keep the refills coming (usually). Â The food is average- but consistent. Â I've never had sub-par food here. Â The burgers are well sized, and you get lots of fries. Â Again- only 3 stars because the food is average to just above- but this place really is worth going to.
The best thing I can say about the Old No 1 is that is has great history on its menu and the parking lot is big. Â Please don't think for more than minute that this is anything other than a bar that serves food. Â I'm going to guess that if you're in Morris when the college is in session the Old No 1 is a hopping joint.
Our server was slow and far more interested in talking to her friends a booth over, than in waiting on tables. Â I ordered an ice tea and asked for an artificial sweetener, and she asked me what that was. Â Really, am I the only person who has ever asked. Â I ordered Nachos Supreme and my son had a burger [like I said bar food]. Â The nachos were pretty good, very spicy and it's a big plate. Â My son said the burger was good, but the fries where just what you get from the freezer at home. Â Anyhow this cost us $29. Â I wasn't thrilled and know I won't be returning here when I visit Morris in the future.
