Breakfast was cold, service did not return, charged for items we did not receive. Had to return hashbrowns, but they came back even worse. In the last two months service and food have gone downhill, I believe the result of the buffet. See other review here on the quality of the buffet---avoid! In fact, avoid this diner, Â just drive on by to the next exit. And if you are a local, hope for new management.
Review Source:Until last Friday, I would have given the Old Town Diner in Myersville 3 or 4 stars.  For the past couple years,  my friend and I have been going there for  coffee or lunch  about once every two to three months, and occasionally,  I would eat there with my family.  The coffee's not that great but it's a more comfortable option than the other eating establishments in our small town- McDonalds, Burger King and Subway.  The food and the service have been pretty good.  No complaints.  The portions are generous, and we almost always need "to-go" boxes.  After our experience last Friday, I'm not sure I'll ever go back.
On the eve of our son's graduation,  several family members came to town.  We met up at the diner for dinner.  Except for my mother, the rest of us had eaten at the diner before and always had a decent meal. At this dinner, six of us ordered off the menu while three of us ordered the buffet.  Those of us who ordered from the menu had no  complaints  about our food.  My fried chicken was tasty and had a crisp skin.  My daughter enjoyed and open-faced roast beef even though she said the beef gravy  way too salty. (I've had the same sandwich and I agree, but it seems like salty beef gravy is the norm at diners.)  Everyone enjoyed their french fries.  We had excellent service from our waitress.  I forget her name, but she's easy to identify right now as she is noticeably pregnant.  Â
The problem was the buffet food. Â My oldest son, who has a big appetite and doesn't have the pickiest palate (he even likes camp food), Â ate very little of any of the entrees he took from the buffet. Â I tried a bite of his seafood alfredo and understood why. Watery and bland. Â It had shrimp and scallops in it. Â After tasting a bite of a scallop, I didn't think it was wise to sample the shrimp. Â My mother, who was ravenous after traveling all day from Florida and having not had lunch, also rejected most of what she took from the buffet, including the seafood alfredo. Â At the end of the long table, my brother-in-law appeared to be wolfing down his food from the buffet, but when my husband asked him how it was, he said, "This is the worst stuff I've ever eaten". Â
The men in our family seem to have iron stomachs, but my mother certainly does not.  During the graduation ceremony the next day, my mother became  ill.  Her condition grew worse quickly and she wound up spending the entire rest of the day and evening, while the rest of us celebrated my son's graduation,  suffering through what was obviously a textbook case of  food poisoning. Â
We can't prove it was what she ate at the diner that made her sick, but given the timing and circumstances,  it is what a reasonable person would deduce.  In our minds, it was the food at the Old Town Diner that ruined my widowed mother's solo  trip up to Maryland to see and celebrate her grandson's graduation.
I'm updating my review for the Old Town Dinner.  This place has changed management several times  over the years.  The most recent gave some promise.  They started with good, fresh cook food but over the past several months, the quality of the food, service and value have plummeted to a new low. We live locally in town and have dinned there over the years because of it being the only restaurant in town.  However, we have noticed over time portions have been cut, and the quality of food being delivered has become substandard.  The staff are aloof (or just don't care) to any problems or complaints and obviously do not quality control before delivering your meal.  For example (and I have many) I was brought a salad that was FROZEN.  When I pointed this out to the waitress, she took it from me and put it in the MICROWAVE (with obvious disastrous results) and then brought it back to me.  She gave me an attitude when I asked for a fresh salad.  This morning I ate there and was delivered bacon that was obviously days old.  I have resolved not to return.  What is sad is that they are right next door to an Amish market that could partner with them to provide fresh products.  It is obvious they are cutting corners, lowering quality, and keeping staff that simply don't care.  Judging by the empty seats, other locals agree and I imagine that they will not be in business for any additional length of time.  So sad when they could have so much potential.
Review Source:my wife and I come here EVERY Sunday AM for breakfast. This small, quaint, hole in the wall diner has great food and service with a smile. the wait staff all know us by name and greet us when we walk in the door. its just nice to have simple home-town service.
***UPDATE*** the owners of this diner are now in Myersville. The new ownership of the one if Frederick is horrible. Dont confuse the two!
We stopped here when it seemed every other restaurant in Frederick closed at 9pm (they close at 10pm every night according to the sign). We were pleasantly surprised. The waitress/hostess offered us the breakfast, lunch or dinner menus and the menu options were extensive with very reasonable prices. I had the cheese steak sandwich (came with fries, cole slaw and soup or salad). The fries were fresh made and excellent. I destroyed my cole slaw and like the proportions of the cheese steak sandwich..
My companion had the Stuffed Turkey dinner which he described as D-licious. His  only criticism was that they used cranberry sauce from a can but otherwise he loved his creamy mashed potatoes and tasty giblet gravy. He also liked the soup (chicken and rice).  All in all, an excellent and happy find driving down 70E on a Saturday night.
Second location in Myersville. Bad food, poor service and expensive for the terrible food we received. Three sad little shrimp, three scallops the size of buttons and over cooked were the only part of the disappointing meal. The order was also wrong when dessert came. The steak had more gristle and fat than steak. The meal was truly pathetic. Our neighbor had warned us, but we had to try it for ourselves.
