On The Way Cafe

On the way cafe is simply amazing. They have the best fish fry I have ever had. So if you like fish, go there. Burgers and breakfast are delicious also . No need to get dressed up either. Go comfortable and eat lots.

(visited April 2011)   Consists of two rooms, one with counter seating for 12, tables for another 16+, back room seating for another dozenish.  Nothing fancy - mostly regulars but friendly ppl.  Server was very friendly, prompt, and courteous - pricing was as expected.  Breakfast menu offers "run-of the mill" fare with a few twists.  

Cost of my meal was about $8 + tip and consisted of american fries, 2x sausage patties, 2x wheat toast, 2x over-easy eggs, large o.j. - plus a small portion of homemade straw jam.  Food tasted as expected, not spectacular, but solid - if you screw up breakfast then in my book, it's time to retire your spatula.  Sausage had decent flavor, lightly toasted/lightly buttered bread, potatoes were crisp fresh cut potatoes, and the eggs were a perfect over-easy.  

The place was busy during our visit, would say 75% of the seats were taken.  It was about a 15 min wait from the time our order was placed to first forkful.  My father, who can be tough to please, ordered the same meal, and he was quite content.  Really nothing extra special about this place - but if you're after real people and real food then this place has it.  Also I like to support the mom & pop grub spots every once and a while - unlike the corporate behemoths they provide a bit of character to the foodie landscape.  

The place is a bit off the beaten path, but if you are in the neck of the wood (er, farmland) then try it.

Stopped here while traveling through town for work one day.  SUPER cute place.  The little old lady working made a killer egg sandwich!  My co-worker and I were pleasantly surprised with our discovery!  Too bad it's in the middle of no where!
