We were looking for something with moderate price and distance from us. Â We found Otis Grill which had some pretty good reviews, and decided to give it a shot. Â There were only about 3 other tables filled while we were eating, but the waitress still seemed preoccupied by something. Â The food was delivered very quickly, however. Â
The food was what I like to call a '-merica meal'. Â I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans with a slice of Texas toast garlic bread. Â We very much had a carb overload when we got done. Â The food was alright, definitely nothing special, but it was alright. Â
As another review said, you can tell it mostly came from a can or freezer, but regardless, it's a good place to get a cheap warm meal.
We have lived near here for years now. It has always been our go to place for a decent hot meal. For the most part we get really good service, there is one waitress whose area we avoid but outside of that it is always a good experience.
If you are looking for gourmet food this is not your place, if you are looking for a dependable place that cares about its customers and will remember your name, then you are in the right place though!
(This review may be a little long, but if I am rating a five star, then I should give an adequate review)
If I could tell you how great this place was in one word, it would have to be: YUM! Â I went to the Otis Grill with my family over Memorial Day weekend. I remember it being the Burger Barn (which kinda saddened me that the Burger Barn is no longer) so walking in brought back memories. Â The place was clean and fairly busy for a week day morning (granted it was a holiday weekend). Â The wait staff noticed us immediately and told us to find a table of our choice. Â Walking through the dining room, I noticed it was very clean.
We all ordered breakfast (Chicken fried steak with hash-browns, eggs, and toast; Biscuits and gravy with hash-browns and choice of meat; eggs, hash-browns, choice of meat and toast). Â IT WAS AMAZING!!
The chicken fried steak was HUGE and really good, tender with (what I am guess are Panco) breadcrumbs; all covered with country gravy. Â The hash-browns were perfect (crispy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside) and the eggs were cooked perfectly too (over medium with no runny whites)!! Â But the best part was the sourdough toast. Â It was definitely homemade bread. Â So good. Â Actually if there was anything to complain about it was that I would have toasted the bread a wee bit longer but it was good all the same!! Â You just don't find homemade bread in restaurants anymore now days, so it was a pleasant surprise! Â
My sister's biscuits and gravy was awesome too! Â The biscuits were obviously made from scratch and the country gravy was perfectly seasoned and not a gloppy coagulated mess like most of the breakfast places tend to be! Â Nope, one might say that it put my Mom's to shame (but shhhh, don't tell anyone I said that)!! Â It had awesome flavor and a little on the spicy side which was a nice surprise! Â I tried to figure out what it was but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Â Hmmm. :)
Overall the food was amazing and very flavorful! Â The service was great (she was very attentive and nice) and everything was really clean (I even peaked into the kitchen area and it was very clean) which, I think, tends to make the experience that much better! Â The prices were comparable to a Shari's or Perkin's but MUCH better and the portions were HUGE!! Â One could say you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck!
Overall I give this place FIVE stars. Â I have only been the once, but I will definitely be going back again! Â I almost don't want to tell people about it, because then it will get overrun! Â But really, take the extra travel time to go, you won't be disappointed!!
Went back last weekend and were not disappointed. Everyone here is so genuinely nice; I bet Otis Orchards would be a nice place to live.
We had a Grilled Ham and Cheese sandwich and a French Dip, both with salads. All were as delicious as we had expected. The whole place is very clean and open feeling. It's easy to feel right at home here.
If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try.
Rediscovered this place a few months ago and it's now on my regular cycle of lunch destinations. Great food & great service. I've tried a variety their burgers, chicken sandwiches, meatloaf, and daily specials, and never been disappointed. They don't mind if we hang out long to talk long after we've paid the bill. They'll even refill soft drinks and water.
Tip: Today the special was a pulled pork sandwich & bottomless steak fries. Don't pass this up if ya get the chance.
the Otis Grill opened a few years ago in the Norm(a)'s Burger Barn space in Otis Orchards. They serve up standard diner fare - burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, etc. Service is usually great and so is the food- had the fish and chips last time. Be sure to ask for the malt vinegar and then enjoy the party in your mouth.
