We stopped in for a quick happy hour "snack"
*Be advised* the happy hour menu is only available on the bar side.
Would have liked to sit on the other side, but totally understand the split. Â Generous portions, and priced fairly well. Certainly a vibrant/locals place to stop in at to meet others.
My husband and I came here on a busy friday night. Â The bartender came to our table and I told him we were interested in dessert and I wanted a cocktail made with elderflower liquor and asked for his suggestion. Â He pointed out two on the menu and I chose the Treme. Â It tasted fine. Â However after I received the drink I noticed on the specials board a different drink that contained the ingredient I asked for. Â He never mentioned it. Â We never received service after that. Â No dessert menu or even a mention if dessert wasn't available. Â We sat with empty glasses for 10 minuets before a different server came over. Â At that point we were ready to leave instead of being ignored. Â I understand it was busy, but empty drinks is a BIG no-no. Â A 3rd server gave us our check and we place our money on the table and waited for change. Â We waited another 5 minuets. That was really annoying. Â I ended up scrounging up my $1's and some quarters to leave exact change. This was a first for me to not tip. Â But it was deserved in this situation. Â It made me uncomfortable and I am embarrassed for them.
I was sooo looking forward to coming here. Â I even read other negative reviews on yelp ( for the next door location) but decided to ignore it. Â I doubt I could convince my husband to give them another chance. So I guess you lost a customer. Â Please fix the customer service so you don't lose someone else.
I love this place, it's my favorite bar in town (I do not however, like Bayou on the Bay. See my review for that dive). The prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for. The bartenders change their drink menus seasonally and the food menu is also changed seasonally. We've had oysters here, and they are delicious. I never liked oysters until I had them here. The drinks are sophisticated and fun. The staff is friendly. The only challenge is if they are busy, it's small space, quiet atmosphere.
Review Source:Very casual & fun spot in the heart of downtown Bellingham. Â Outside seating was packed on this sunny evening, so we sat inside & listened to some great music. The Hama Hama oysters on the half shell were awesome - fresh & cold, and my halibut taco was incredible. Also got to taste the crispy pulled pork taco & it was great as well. The old fashioned drink menu wasn't my thing, but the Moscow Mule was tasty, if a little on the sour side. All in all, a fun night! Oh, and next time we'll try for happy hour...
Review Source:This place is hands down the best place for craft cocktails in town. Great prices, knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of liquors you won't find anywhere else in town. If you are a fan of Absinthe, the Oyster Bar has the most varieties I've seen north of Seattle. Â They also carry a great selection of whiskey, including a huge selection of Irish whiskey and as many Japanese whiskies as I have seen anywhere else.
The selection of oysters on the half shell is really decent, and if you are not a fan of raw food, then try any of the baked oysters or the tacos. Â Both are absolutely amazing.
