Thanks to Yelp, we found Patrick's while passing through town. Â We sat at the small side bar not realizing how huge and sectioned off this place was! Â It was nice though because we didn't have to wait for service as the bartender was right there. Â
Great beer selection and the progressive priced Jameson shot concept is brilliant! Unfortunately Gustavus had a pub crawl the night before and drank through the cheap shots and also drank Patrick's out of the $1 High Life. Â We still enjoyed a Jameson and some other beers.
The bf ordered a burger and opted to try the Bucket Of Death. Â Again, a brilliant idea! Â A bucket of hot sauces Patrick's have picked up from all over the place. Â It was fun to try a few of them.
The service, food and atmosphere were all great!! Â If Patrick's was in the cities it would be a regular stop for us. Â We'll be stopping in again next month when we pass through St. Peter. Â The same bartender wasn't there but we still had great service and great burgers!
I like this place!
I've been here a few times. Â It's an interestingly eclectic place to be, which is also reflected in the diversity of people I've seen there too. Good drink selections and good dinner food.
Their breakfast menu looked good, but the one time I ate breakfast, it was only ok. Â Sometimes it gets real busy and lots of people here, which takes away from the service.
All things considered, I like this place.
Loved this place! Â (Even if it is the unofficial home of a competing drum corp...) Â I ended up here by chance when I came to town to see my husband compete in the DCA competition. Â Until I sat down and noticed all the corp decor (hey, it rhymes!) and the shows on the TV, I didn't realize I had come to the bar they were hitting up after the competition. Â Anyway, on to my experience:
I did have to approach a barkeep to see if I could just grab a seat anywhere for a meal. Â But, you know, that's pretty much to be expected when going to a bar where I'm from. Â Maybe that's not the usual for other people? Â No big deal, when I approached the barkeep, she was friendly and my server came over promptly and gave considered thought to my questions while I mulled over my choices.
I ordered the pepperjack potato soup along with the tuna melt and fries. Â The soup was perfection. Â Absolutely delicious. Â The fries were nice and crispy. Â And the tuna melt...it's pretty hard to mess up a tuna melt. Â However, it's also very hard to make a memorable tuna melt. Â And this was memorable. Â Needless to say, it also was delicious cold. Â I was not able to finish my entire meal so took half the sandwich with me. Â I popped it in my cooler and the next day, almost 24 hours later, pulled it out while at a rest stop and ate the rest. Â Still yum.
if I have to complain, I was really looking forward to a Magners. Â A bit disappointed to find out they didn't have it. Â The Angry Orchard they did have was great none-the-less. Â Although it was also a bit odd that they didn't then carry a more local cider, like Crispin, since they didn't go the Irish route. Â But like I said, the Angry Orchard was fantastic. Â The switch-up of cider did not diminish my experience. Â :-)
Busy bar scene -- good time . Food is pretty good. Probably one of the better restaurants in town. Food Service is great . Drink service is typical of busy bar .
For a bar, the place is totally fine. For a restaurant , it's kinda grimy. Place could use a renovation . If you're new in town, you'd drive right by - totally looks like a dumpy college bar , not a place you'd ever actually want to eat in
Arrived on a busy Friday night with kids in tow. Â I tried to find a table, no luck. Â I was just about to leave when a manager approached us and took us to a quiet area and got our names to wait for a table. Â Beer in hand, problem solved! Â Solid service, totally unexpected of a college bar. Â
Bottom line: Great pizza, beer and burgers with outstanding service. Â Highly impressed!
Without having even been to any other bars in Saint Peter, I can say Patrick's is where you want to be. It's a little rough around the edges, but is pretty spacious with plenty of seating and has cool décor. A bar with character needs rough edges anyhow.
For lack of a better analogy, the variation in crowds throughout the day is like night and day. I went in for lunch once and my party was the only one there. I still like this dive bar for the atmosphere, though. Patrick's had - and likely still has - weekly trivia in the evening, and in my college days I would frequently round up friends with hopes of having fun and no hopes of winning big. That bar was nearly full for trivia night (mostly Gustavus students, myself one) and the atmosphere was buzzing with flowing beer and high-spirited competitors.
Speaking of beer, Patrick's has an excellent selection of beer on tap. Schell's beer (their brewery is in nearby New Ulm) was a facet of trivia that I grew fond of. Raise your glass to Schell's beer! The bar's wings are good too, and I think they had a 30-cent wing night. Not sure if that's still in play.
Looking back, the worst part of graduating and entering the "real world" was that I wouldn't be going to Patrick's on a regular basis anymore.
There are 6 bars in St. Peter and Patricks is overall the best. They have $1 high life taps, all day, every day. HH is from M-F, 3-6 and all drinks, or at least all beer is a buck or so cheaper.
The food is decent, pizza, wings, burgers, etc. Try the Chuck Norris challenge, two 1 lbs. beef patties separated by a grilled cheese sandwich, bacon and cheese with two sides of fries or tots. It's free if you can finish it in an hour, otherwise it's something like $17.
Tuesday night trivia has a very large following. The place is packed to the point where it is difficult to find seating.
They also have 7 bottles of Jameson on the wall. A shot from the first bottle is $3, but when the first bottle is finished, a shot from the second bottle is $2.75, etc. When you get to the last bottle, you are paying $1.25 per shot. The bottles usually go pretty quick once it hits $2 a shot.
There are a couple of pool tables, darts, buck hunter and a new outdoor patio.
Patrick's is my favorite Irish pub. Â When passing through, I always want to stop and get their veggie melt and wedges with ranch. Â Awesome side salads, pizza and famous patty melts too. Â Spacious place with pool tables, dart boards, arcade games and a jukebox. Â Bar, tables, louge area, trivia and karaoke nights make a cozy, warm atmosphere. Â Lots of old photos on the wall. Â Nice variety of beers on tap & bottle. Â Service is usually pretty good. Â For some reason, if you go to Patrick's, you will create fond memories when you're there.
