By far the best restaurant in Lil Ole Wrens to eat...my hometown!! Down home soul food cooking, where some of the cooks are family friends and relatives. I had beef tips, rice, cream corn, turnip greens, biscuits and sweet tea....damn good food. To top off the great meal...the owner Miss Peggy was going table to table and thanking everyone for coming to her restaurant, which has been a mainstay for the past thirty years or more. Every time I'm home, I eat here at least four or five times for lunch and dinner.
Review Source:Not fancy outside or in, but delicious! My first time to eat here, and today the buffet had fresh fried chicken, fried pork chops, beef tips over rice, squash casserole (with just the right touch of onion), tiny fresh butterbeans, blackeyed peas, cabbage, candied yams, mac& Â cheese, and cornbread muffins and biscuits. Meat and 3 was $7.99. They bring a tea or water pitcher to your table. The sweet tea was just right sweet, too, not syrupy sweet. I didn't see any desserts, but the candied yams filled that bill. Definitely on my list for when I'm coming thru Wrens! Park in back and walk to good home cookin'.
Review Source:I currently live in Houston Texas, but I did visit my Grandma in Wrens on thanksgiving. Â The food at Peggy's is as good as it gets for down home cookin. Â Veggies striaght out of the field and fried chicken that would make the Colonel Sanders weep with joy. Â If you are visiting Augusta, Ga the 45 minute drive to Wrens would be very worth it, if you eat at Peggy's!!!
