I went to Phatheadz not having a clue what to expect, except that I had seen both chicken & steak fingers (both of which I love).

I decided to order a combo, which included three chicken fingers and three steak fingers, fries, a big pickle, 2 dips and a drink. Seemed like a good way to get the full experience.

I dug in when I got back to my hotel. First impressions... VERY good. Both types of fingers were tender with crispy, not-too-thick breading. The Phatheadz signature sauce (forgot the name) was very tasty and pretty much a perfect match for either type of finger. I also got a Ranch dip, which was good as well.

I was done with all my food almost before I realized it, and it left me craving more.

My single complaint is the fries. Mine were cooked decently, but were somewhat bland, hardly even salted (another reviewer was raving about the seasoned fries but I didn't see an option for that on the menu). If the fries were better, this would be a 5-star shoe-in... it's that good.

    I wouldn't mind a 32oz drink option as well, because I'm a pig.

Final word: WELL worth a trip. Get some salt for the fries.

I've been coming to Phatheadz for a long time -- well, until I moved away to a little island in the Pacific, that is.  Before that, when Phatheadz first opened, we ate here probably dang near weekly.  So when it was time to come back to Alabama for a visit, I knew we would be stopping here at least once, probably more.

They serve fried chicken tenders and fried steak tenders, of which I highly prefer the chicken (I remember the steak being a little tough, but then again, I've never been a fan of steak tenders anyways, so take my opinion with a grain of salt).  The chicken is juicy and breaded nicely, and the amazing fries (I seriously need to find out what they season them with -- they almost taste like a heavenly combination of salty and -sweet- somehow!) plus the variety of sauces (ranch, "Phat sauce", honey mustard, BBQ) keep me coming back for more.  They used to serve a mean batch of fried pickles, but apparently those aren't around anymore (ultra sad face).  I suppose the "ultimate" test would be to say whether or not this place is better than the Foo, but I like different things about both places, and I'll just end up patroning both when I'm here and keep two great local places around for myself and others to enjoy ;)
