The Piano Man

The Piano Man Lake Norman is a new location for the one that was located in Concord. I experienced the new dueling pianos on two different occasions. The first night we stopped in just to check it out because it was opening weekend. A medium sized crowd was seated in the table areas however my group was the only people in the bar area. The piano men were playing the usual "Sweet Home Alabama," and "Sweet Caroline." Everyone was having a good time.
My latest visit was for my sister's surprise Birthday Party. I organized with their party planner Jonathan for a group of 20 on a Saturday night. There was a cover for all of us which wasn't too pleasing but the Musicians make their money that way, so it wasn't a big deal. We sat in a squishy table in the back middle. It was not my ideal location for my sister's Birthday gathering, but we made it work.
Our group requested several songs that were immediately played as we accompanied our requests with some $$. We put in extra money to have my sister dragged up and embarrassed with a Birthday song, which was funny and crude.
The server we had was nice, although she was slammed because it was so busy that evening. The bartenders were nice and attentive as well. The girl who greeted us at the door was rude and acted like she didn't know what I was talking about regarding a party and didn't even know who "Jonathan" was...their party planner. It was weird. Luckily the bartender came over and sorted it out; I'm assuming he was a manager.
I would go to Piano Man again only for a special occasion. This one is no different from any other dueling Piano bar in Charlotte. I wish they would try something new. On vacation in Jamaica the piano bar we went to actually let the audience do the singing. They passed around a songbook to choose from and a microphone. That was something special I would suggest the local venues here start incorporating.
