If you have the time, it's good food. Â However, the service can be really slow even at lunch time on a weekday. Â The first time I went, we were in an out of there within our lunch hour. Â The second time, it took us almost two hours. Â I usually get the half rack of ribs. Â I thought it was good. Â The meat just fell right off the bones and the bbq sauce was nicely sweet and tangy at the same time. Â I would go back on days when I have time to spare just in case.
Review Source:Came here with a large group of coworkers for a buffet style function. Â We had coleslaw, beans, pulled pork sandwiches and wings. Â The restaurant is clean and has a decent bar. Â They serve Pepsi products which seems very common in this area. Â The meal was fairly average overall and the barbecue sauce seemed fairly generic as were the beans and cole slaw (I think the beans were Bush's to be honest). Â The pulled pork was good, but nothing special. Â Overall, very average, not bad, but not anything special. Â I would go here again, but not as a first choice.
Review Source:Stopped in here with a big group. Â The restaurant stayed open for us, reserved ribs for us. Â It was excellent. Â I had the muddy ribs on a Wednesday night, they have a rib special that night, well worth it. Â The waitress was excellent, she kept topping off the beverages. Â Wish we had a place that served ribs this good in San Diego.
Review Source:An hour and a half for a pulled pork sandwich at lunch. Â The bun was very hard, the pork was very dry, the fries were very cold, and by the time I got my food.......I was very pissed.
There were 30 of us that went in there, we told the place a week ahead of time that we were coming and how many of us would be there. Â
No seasoning on anything that I tasted.  I tried a friend's rib, it tasted like nothing.......just meat.
I thought this was Memphis, the home of great BBQ.......my dyin ass.  I havent had good BBQ from a store since weve been here.  We do competitions, and theres some great food out there (Ill invite you all to our next one, you can come by and have some of ours), but from what I see most of these stores are operating off of a name that they can no longer do justice.  And whatever Pig and Whistle USED to be was lost in the crappy service, bad food, and overall bad experience that left me feeling like I was, once again, robbed of my lunch money.
I had the dinner deal, which had a choice of meat, three sides and a drink for $7.99. I had sweet tea, brisket, cole slaw, fried pickles and hush puppies. The bads: The sweet tea wasn't really sweet enough, the cole slaw was not good, the fried pickles were ok except that they were way too salty. The hushpuppies had corn in them, which was different but they were good. The brisket was great! That is the only thing keeping it at 4 stars, that and the price, and hospitality. The waiter was good, but the poor guy didn't do well with the payment part. He charged one of my dinner-mates for the other one's meal and vice-versa. So he over charged one and under charged the other. But he was pretty apologetic. Anyways, the bbq sauce on the brisket was great, and the brisket was tender and juicy like it should be.
Review Source:I was very disappointed. Â For being out in the middle of nowhere, and having such a nice looking outside, the service was inattentive, and unfriendly when we placed our order. Â I had the most expensive lunch item (big pig plate), thinking it would be a decent portion, but unfortunately, I had just a smattering of pork on a bun with some mediocre beans and okra on the side. Â Better off going to the high school cafeteria for good food. Yuck!
Review Source:I really wanted this to be better. Went for lunch back in May with a group, most of us had the pulled pork sandwich. I could have just been an off day, but we were all pretty disappointed. Â The BBQ was ok, Â however let me be clear, I am grading on a Memphis BBQ scale, which is tougher.
Review Source:While being stuck in TN for a week a few of us came down and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the beef brisket plate which came with 2 sides. I selected the fried okra and green beans which were nice. Tried the appetizers of friend pickles , fried green tomatoes, and some hush puppies which were fabulous by the way. The only thing as mentioned that took away was there wasn't much seasoning to the brisket which was alright because I added BBQ sauce which was good. Overall this place was good too. Our waitress Kim was awesome also. Thanks and if I'm back in Millington, TN we shall stop back by!
Review Source:My companion and I split the fried green tomatoes as a starter, followed by the slab for two, muddy, which includes 4 sides. We had fried okra, Cole slaw, white beans and potato salad.
The tomatoes, ribs and potato salad were great. The other sides were so so. Overall, we were very pleased. Service was friendly and efficient.
Good ribs, both sauce & dry rub spices are tasty. Fairly tender for pork ribs, would like to have some smoke flavor though. Slaw & okra were ok, bread was like a roll with some biscuit texture, pretty light, also good. Building is nicely rustic, Â exposed brick walls, high ceilings, get points for their decor. They are closed on Mondays.
