Pizza was great! Sandwich was huge and very good! Service for just a take out order well she had to answer a text on her phone as I stood there waiting hmmm not a hello and only "what's the name" not the service I was looking for in a place I'd probably become a regular. Get off your phone and I would have tipped for a carryout!
Review Source:I'm a fan of pizza in general. Â I've had a lot of it from a lot of different places and a lot of different styles: thin, pan, deep-dish, hand-tossed, red pizzas, white pizzas, New York style, Chicago style, Neapolitan, Sicilian, you name it. Â I have my favorites, but through it all, I still love some Pisanello's any day of the week. Â I was probably in Junior High when Pisanello's came to town, maybe even sooner, so I sort of grew up eating it. Â The Pizza Cognition Theory states that the first slice of pizza a child sees and tastes becomes, for him, pizza. Â While Pisanello's wasn't my first, it was early enough that I keep coming back to it as the yardstick for "standard pizza". Â Other styles are good too; I love a good slice of brick-oven Neapolitan pizza, but if that's all I ever ate, I'd certainly start missing good-ol' Pisanello's.
If you haven't had it, it has a pretty thin crust in the middle. Â It is floppy and foldable enough to be classified as a New York style crust, I suppose, although the pieces are substantially smaller than their East coast cousins. Â The cheese and toppings are always good, although I especially enjoy the pepperoni. Â I would say the distinguishing feature of a Pisanello's pizza is that it is gloriously greasy. Â It is heavy and unhealthy, but dang it, it tastes good. Â
The bread sticks are also worth a try. Â I like getting them once in a while to mix things up. Â Also good are the subs and salads. Â I can't say I've ever gotten a bad one. Â I like them all. Â The only thing I've ever tried that was just so-so was an order of wings. Â Those are worth passing on and leaving more room for pizza. Â If you can catch the buffet, that's always a win too. Â Although the buffet is small, they will make whatever you want, so I always leave happy.
Wrapping things up, the prices are fine, and the service is acceptable too. Â The workers are generally the current crop of local high-schoolers bound to be gone a year from now, so don't expect anything too spectacular, but I've never had bad service either. Â
Bottom line: Pisanello's is really good. Unless you are a soulless monster you will love their pizza too.
