  Ponderosa Pines is a great place to eat, my family and I go here at least once a week. The service is great and so is the food, they also have a theme night on every Monday night (E.G. Mexican night, Chinese night, German night, etc.). The owners are very nice and she makes most of the food herself.

  A wonderful small town restaurant, owners Gary and Marie provide great service and friendly atmosphere.
  The food is very good, steak...excellent. I love the homemade soup, especially the clam chowder on Fridays.
  An ethnic dinner is done on Monday nights changing weekly with German, Italian, Chinese, Mexican and more. Definitely worth the drive up from Redding.

  I can't really rate this in comparison to any other establishment in Shingletown, because we were mostly cooking on our own at the Cabin.  
  
  But, I must say if you are interested in steak and you like it big, and prepared perfectly, then you should check out the Ponderosa Pines.  Though the menu has fried chicken, pasta and a few other entrees but when we asked the waiter what he recommended, he said steak.  They cut it themselves - and the cook keeps an eye on you while you eat to make sure you're enjoying it.  In our case, we were grinning ear to ear, a perfectly flavorful, perfect medium rare, done with just salt and pepper...  it was a dream, a happy meat dream.   And all for about 1/3 of what you pay for a San Francisco steak.  
  
  Also, all the folks working there are friendly and pleasant.
