Pope's Cafe

New ownership, but great food in traditional southern lunch counter atmosphere.  Best Hamburger I've eaten in years yesterday, and outstanding fried chicken, turnip greens, MAC n cheese, rolls and cornbread today.  Coconut merangue pie, and I'm in heaven.

In town with the kid for a sports thing, had a couple of hours to kill on a quiet Saturday morning.  Several little shops & cafes on the square, came here to eat a little breakfast.  Very friendly folks, good breakfast - basics very well done.  Saw the pie case and proceeded to bring the kid back for a piece of pie after his event.  Looks great, tasted great.  Be sure to stop by for pie!

Good menu and food was good. Pie was awesome.
