Horrible.
Only reason I am giving it two stars is because of our great waitress.
We came in and this huge place was empty.
Service was fast, but ordering was a nightmare. Everything we ordered, the waitress returned with "we are out of xxxx..."
This seriously happened twice with my girlfriend, and 4 times with myself. I am not joking. So, I ordered the gyro hoagie with steak since they were out of lamb. So... she came back, "we are out of steak, too." So, I ordered it with chicken and alas it came.
It was quite tasty.
The bruschetta burger my girlfriend ordered was slop. The burger smelled and tasted like fish. Someone cooked a fish on the same area and did not clean it. It smelled RANK. So, she returned it and took half of my yummy gyro-chicken hoagie.
The Salton Sea was fun, but Salton City was crap.
My boyfriend and I went on a day trip to the Salton Sea and the surrounding places. By the time we got to the sea, we were starving, but I was super nervous about eating anywhere because everything surrounding seemed pretty run down. We went to the building of a "Food to Go" and "Travertine Grill" only to find Portobello's. Everything looks new, which is actually eerie because the place seemed empty and unused. It made us again, very nervous to try any food.
We ordered the calamari, fried ravioli, and I had a salad and a beer as well. Let me tell you, everything was AMAZING. The calamari was obviously fresh, perfect breading, and not greasy at all. The ravioli was divine. It's hard to mess up a beer and a salad, so obviously no complaints there.
If for any reason you find yourself wandering around Salton City, definitely check this place out.
Good stop if you're in the area. Solid menu with plenty of American Diner-type of food. a half dozen beers on tap and a full bar. Many motocross-types here for lunch. I've stopped by twice in the new year. I hope this business lasts. It's always nice to have a reliable stop when cruising the Salton Sea.
