I have had many epic times playing shows with GEBULAR at the Pourhouse before they changed owners. This Friday our band COHO was shut down without playing a song, because the first band was too loud at 83 decibels. When asked to turn down, we turned down the mic and guitar. Still the staff was not happy. People at the tables next to the stage were talking while the band was playing with no issues from noise. A staff member takes me outside and starts yelling at me. I felt like we walked into someones bad day. I will forever remember the good times I had rocking the stage at the Pourhouse, but with this crew I wont be returning to perform, or have dinner. After we were shut done without playing a note they turned on their jukebox. It was at 75 decibels. Not a whole lot different then 83? If your a performer I would think twice before performing here.

If I could, I wouldn't even put 1 star!  First & foremost if you are a band looking to play at this venue, think twice and read on! If you are a patron going to listen to live music, think twice and read on. If you like false advertising are looking to spend money in a juke box and sit bored at a table, this might be the place for you!! I will be fair and say out of the 3 bar tenders that I saw ... One was pretty cool!! There was no table service as far as drinks went though.

I came to this place last night to listen to "LIVE" music. Not a juke box. It was advertised on Facebook as well as publicly and posters and a giant board in front of The Pourhouse last night that COHO would be playing. Evan and His Big Bass Drum was set to open and then COHO. Well, apparently a couple of people complained that the first band was too loud! Is now a good time to mention that said music was ROCK! Not country or hip hop or acoustic ... but Rock. Information known when this not so lovely establishment booked the bands!!!!!! Not one mention to Evan and His Big Bass Drum was mentioned about the noise level. Instead the management (if she was even management) targeted a member of COHO and cornered him telling him the music was too loud. Multiple times he was pulled either to a corner of the bar or outside. What is the purpose of this??? If there is a problem, how about you address it with the band that was actually playing????

Then they shut COHO down completely before they even played one chord or stepped foot on the stage. Seriously?? Advertised band shut down because opening band was loud?? Even if they were loud ... a few people may have complained but the majority of the bar was enjoying the music, dancing around, and most important spending their MONEY at this business. Several people drove from as far as Olympia specifically to watch COHO play. People paid MONEY to buy the first band shots in support of their music. One drunk chick sat at the bar with her hands over her ears. At one point between songs one person said it was too loud and the rest of the bar screamed TURN IT UP!

My bottom line ... I paid money for a drink that I took 4 sips out of and then returned to the bar when I found out COHO would not be allowed to play. I will not ever return to The Pourhouse because of their poor business skills. If you book a band and advertise that they will be playing and people coming in know there is live music and then complain, stand behind the majority there to support the band and tell the whiners that they can come back on Juke Box night!!! I am disgusted!

Also would like to point out there were more people standing in the parking lot talking about the band being shut down than were actually in the bar after! Business lost ... People pulled in the parking lot, saw the band, commented on the fact they were bummed that they missed the show, were told the band was shut down ... they got in their cars and left!!! Messed up situation. It is my understanding the owner was not there ... Maybe the owner should have a sit down and instead of posting some lame apology actually publicly apologize to COHO for what was done to them.

*I am not a band member, nor family of a band member. I am simply a person that was there to listen to COHO specifically because they are awesome. I paid a cover charge, spent money on drinks, and paid a baby sitter to watch the band I wanted to see perform get shut down*

Legit bar food is hard to find in many towns, but seems especially difficult around here. Which is why the food here was a genuine surprise. Especially the homemade chips with the horseradish aioli sauce that comes with. Yum. Good service, too. The environment might be a bit rough around the edges for some, but it is a tavern style bar afterall, in a small town, without much going on. Worth the stop on your way to the beach, or wherever the road might take you.
