Chris was a fantastic representative of Pure Cru!  "Napa Valley" Customer Service at it's finest!

I have to be honest, I didn't drink the wine here because my girlfriend and I came in here to look at Conan O' Brien, who was sitting a table just outside this place, but my girlfriend did say she did enjoy the wine. While I was here, I did admire the bar and seating; it was just a really nice, low key place. There was sports on the TV behind the bar, but it was unobtrusive and displayed at a low enough volume that you could still hear what was going on.

I'm so glad I found this place! They are a bit hard to find being tucked behind Norman Rose and Oenotri on First Street but well worth seeking them out. They serve as a tasting room exclusively for the PureCru brand, so they only serve their wine.  We did a couple tastings and decided to stay for a glass and order food from the neighboring restaurant Oenotri (They will bring the food right over to the tasting room!)  My favorite wine was definitely the PureCoz Red Wine, with the Pinot Noir coming in a close second. It's nice to see more tasting rooms popping up in downtown Napa area, especially for the boutique producers.  The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, always cracking jokes!  I will definitely be back!

I am a big fan of winemaker Mitch Cosentino. I have been a loyal drinker of his wines for many years, so I was excited to try out Pure Cru, his latest venture. Pure Cru is a quiet little wine bar that's really hard to find. It's tucked back in an unassuming area in downtown Napa; you'll have to seek it out to find it.

The wine bar itself is fine; it's small with concrete floors and leather chairs. The place looks like it was "designed" and "decorated" by a man and has a bachelor pad, sterile and empty feel. It's not a particularly comfortable spot to have a glass of wine. There's a loud t.v. hanging on the wall behind the bar, making it feel more like a sports bar than an intimate wine lounge. That might be the point, but just know what you are getting into as it might not be what you are looking for.

The wine menu is very limited and mostly exists of 2 tasting flights of Pure Cru wines; one is $15 per person, the other is $25. We ordered both flights to share so we could taste all the wines. Most of the wines were good, solid and tasty. The service was top notch and the server was knowledgeable. You could also order small plates of food from the nearby restaurant. The wine bar has a large family table in a private room in the back; it looked like it could be rented out and used by the restaurant.

My main issue with this place is the atmosphere. It was just so uncomfortable; I wanted to finish my wines and get out. It's not a place you'd want to linger. The concrete floors combined with the blaring television made it too loud. I'd rather be at home in my living room. I got out and spend money to relax and escape, not to be reminded of being at home.

The place was mostly empty when we were there except for a table with a few adults and their TWO SMALL GIRLS. The children were running around the place, climbing all over the chairs, playing hide and seek around the customers, etc. Our server informed us that they belonged to one of the co-owners, the adults who were sitting at the table with the kids! If the co-owner would let his children run around, imagine what other people would do! This was just really unacceptable, as I think children have no place in a bar, especially when they are disturbing adults! Check out my pictures, you'll see the kids climbing all over the furniture! Oh, and one of the women had her handbag on the adjacent table so no customers could sit there! In a wine bar with only a few tables, they were taking up almost all of the seating areas! Pretty rude.

I probably won't be back to Pure Cru, which is a shame, because it COULD be a good concept. But as it is now, I'm not really a fan and I can't recommend it. Bummer.
