I have been to Quartermaster minimum of 7 times and have never been disappointed.  During busy summer months it is one of the few restaurants that will take reservations.  They usually have a musician playing and a nightly drink special.   I have had the prime rib (which is usually only served on Saturday) and it is a nice change from the seafood. You can't go wrong with the fresh fried flounder or the weekend .25cent chicken wings.  My favorite sandwich is the fresh backfin crab piled high on a toasted ciabatta roll with melted cheese.  Why order crab cakes?  This sandwich is will blow your mind with all the crab and no shell accidentally left in. Trust me you will love it.

This is the second year we have visited Topsail, and the second time we have visited this restaurant. On both visits we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service.  This time around we started out with the hot crab dip served with toasted Italian bread rounds.  Very yummy, but could have used more crab.  My husband had broiled scallops (huge, sweet and tender) and flounder.  He enjoyed it and commented that it was very fresh. I had the crab stuffed flounder, which was wonderful.  It came with fresh asparagus and a stuffed potato.  My niece had the fish taco - mahi mahi and loved it.  My granddaughter had the Reuben, and couldn't finish it -it was huge.  Our server, Kristin, was very attentive.  Our glasses stayed full and our plates were cleared promptly.  We must have hit it at the right time, as the wait for a table was just a few minutes.  The restaurant is off the beach, but what it lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up for in quality.

The food was great here, can't fault them there. The scallops were the size of a baby's fist and were delicious. The service, from the texting hostess to the completely inattentive waitstaff left a lot to be desired, though. If you don't mind waiting to have a really tasty meal, this is the place for you.

I was a little concerned to find this place in a small strip mall, but was very pleasantly surprised once inside.  It has the expected nautical decor, but is comfortably casual. Waitstaff were quick to make us feel welcome. We were fortunate to arrive shortly after they opened, because  they filled all their tables and had a 30 minute wait by 6pm on this particular Saturday.
We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms and hot crab dip. Both were good but not anything particularly unique. Our party of 5 all enjoyed them.
I had the Seafood Étouffée, as did one of the others in the party. We both agreed that it was spectacular. Not a huge portion, but very flavorful and left me satisfied. The scallops were especially tender and tasty. My wife had the crab and shrimp au gratin, which she also really enjoyed. It tasted a lot like the hot crab dip, but with fresh shrimp added and then covered with cheese and put under the broiler. I tried it too and agreed it had good flavor.
Overall a very good dinner and pleasant experience. I do not have anything else in the area to compare it too, but as far as general seafood places, this one is better than most. We'll be back.

Not a bad place at all. There's definitely worse in Topsail.

Amazing good French onion soup obviously made from scratch. Fish is always fresh and well cooked, sides are good. Great for large groups where some might want full dinner, others lighter fare such as fish and chips or sandwiches. Try the fried the zuccini strips - yummy. Also a good selection of beer on draft and in bottles at good prices. We go every time we visit Topsail.

For our last night in Top Sail, we wanted to go out for a group dinner at a local restaurant. I called ahead and they had no problem seating a party of nine at 6pm on a Friday night. Good for us, possibly a bad sign too.

Located in a strip mall, right next to a tourist shop, the place is cozy. Booths line the restaurant with a separate bar area. From our seats, the kitchen looks very small but the menu was pretty extensive.

Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating, answering all our questions and delivering great service during the whole experience. Our drinks were never empty and she complied with all our requests.

As a group, we had appetizers of coconut shrimp, cheese sticks, and stuffed mushrooms. My stuffed mushrooms were delicious, as were the coconut shrimp - with the cheese sticks being average.

For entrees, the group ordered: fish and chips, stuffed flounder, baked shrimp and ravioli, mate's platter (fried seafood), maris' mixed grill (mahi mahi, grilled), rib eye, and crab cakes.

Fish and Chips - I didn't hear anything good or bad. Funny thing is it doesn't come with fries (chips) unless you select it as your side.

Stuffed Flounder - Said it was okay, average.

Baked Shrimp - Didn't care for it. Drowned in red sauce with some shrimp piled in.

Mate's Platter - Too small of a portion.

Mixed Grill - Really good. Perfectly cooked.

Rib Eye - Okay. A lot of fat for a rib eye.

Crab Cakes - Okay, expected better, had better before.

Everyone seemed less than impressed for the prices and small portions. However, everyone loved their sides of green beans, asparagus, twice baked potatoes, and fries.

Dessert was fried cheesecake and brownie with ice cream. The cheesecake was again, eh, nothing great. Same goes with the brownie. I wish it was warmed up as it was a stone cold brownie with a scoop of ice cream.

I did enjoy my mushrooms and mahi, which entices me to possibly go back if I am ever in Top Sail again. However, note the high prices before going. I believe you could get more for your money elsewhere and a better value.

In a less populated area of NC, this is a nice restaurant.  Being near a beach, it's very casual as expected.  Food is surprisingly good, but prices reflect.  Seafood Etoufe is remarkable.
    Family friendly as well.
Stuffed flounder is equally as surprising.
In a small strip mall near Waves and Food Lion.
Well worth the trip to this restaurant.
If you are in the area don't miss this as well as Indigo Marsh.
Only thing not making this a 5-star for Yelp is possible waiting times, but you can call ahead and reserve a table.  Also service could be a bit better, but food makes up for it.
