I love a special type of bar, Â A place where you walk in and feel welcome, drinks are cheap and the people who are there aren't out to be seen dancing or listen to blaring music, they come to have a few drinks and socialize with other people. Â The term dive bar is often used to slander this type of wonderful establishment but when I go out I seek out hole in the wall or dive bars exclusively. Â
On a recent trip to Sarona, I and some friends went out to check the local places and ended up in Spooner. Â It was a Wednesday and most of the bars were empty or closed. Â I on a hunch stuck my head into the Rabbit Hole and met Danielle at the bar. Â It turns out she was the owner and had just bought the bar a few weeks back. Â She is in process of getting everything settled and decorated for an Alice in Wonderland theme which should be worth a stop for pictures when it's all done. Â She was super nice and a great bartender so i grabbed my crew and we ended up spending the rest of the night here having a blast playing dice and chatting with her and the other locals. Â The jukebox selections were awesomely eclectic and the volume was perfect for having a conversation while still being able to enjoy Richard Cheese.
I and my friends all agreed that it was one of the best nights of the trip and we'll be back next time we're in town.
