Really good breakfast stop on our way back from western Nebraska. The Range Cafe is located in a historic building and attached to a super cute hotel. The lounge, restaurant and hotel were all well kept and everyone was very friendly.
Breakfast was super cheap and very flavorful - not to mention speedy. I'd recommend it as a stop and would definitely stop again if we find ourselves in the area.
The Range Cafe has been around forever, serving as a community hub for Rock County, and serving up a steady supply of hearty foods. Â It's not a place for the health-conscious, or a place for people seeking fresh fruits/vegetables. Â Open-faced roast beef sandwiches covered in gravy. Â The farmer/rancher breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes, hashbrowns. Â Fried chicken.
Low prices, familiar faces, antique diner decor. Â I don't live in Bassett; I only visit. Â So the Range Cafe is a sort of nostalgia trip, a hefty treat. Â But if I lived in Bassett, I might lobby for some salad nicoise on the menu, or perhaps a sauteed spinach and salmon entree. Â But as it is, the last time I visited (2001) there was dependable solid salty American foods.
