Late night dining is a really huge bonus in this area - aside from Denny's there are few options past 9pm. I just wish the quality of food was a bit better - they proudly offer homemade chicken tenders which look wonderful but are dredged in a completely seasonless coating - not even salt n pepper, and the chicken comes out somewhat dry and stringy - a bit of them were inedible. I had tried a burger there one time - never again was nothing more than a frozen burger patty nothing fresh about it, The only thing I will say is I have had the steak salad and the steak alfredo which the steak (although unseasoned) was perfectly cooked and tender. Much of what we ordered the last time was extremely over cooked - I don't understand this because it was very busy and you would think they would be trying to get food out fast not cook it to death, My hubby ordered the pulled pork eggrolls which were so dark brown from the fryer they just crumbled apart when you tried to bite them, his tenders were also way overcooked and my bowtie pasta was downright mushy. The atmosphere is very dark and overdone with sports pictures and crap everywhere with no rhyme or reason. Theres so many tvs that I find it makes me dizzy if I try to look around too much. I am quite positive I would not care to eat sitting underneath someones dirty worn bowling shoes hanging down from the ceiling - not sure how that's ok with the health dept either. Food has been better during other visits, will probably be back.
Review Source:The Recovery Sports Grill is a good place to go for drinks, bar food, and to catch your favorite game on one of the many big TVs at this sports themed bar & grill. I've been to the Rotterdam location several times during the NFL season, since they have NFL Sunday Ticket (every NFL game shown) and each table has a portable tuner/speaker to hear the sounds of your favorite game, a big plus in my book!
I happened to be in Rotterdam, so I stopped in here recently on a Sunday afternoon to catch my game, which was not shown on local TV. The place was pretty busy and most of the seats were occupied. However, the staff at the welcome station were not so friendly, as I asked one of the hostess' if I could be seated and I was told there were no tables available with a curt attitude and try to find a seat at the bar (no seats available-I checked beforehad). The group behind me was seated at a table immediately.
I almost left the place because of the hostess, but I decided to stick around since I could watch several NFL games simultaneously. I eventually found an open seat at a high top table, which I shared with two other customers (a Lions fan and a Bears fan). My waitress (Kayla) was very friendly and promptly took my drink order and gave me a menu. I ordered a California Chicken Club ($7.99) served with kettle chips. The food did take a while to come out as the place was very busy and I was busy watching my game. The sandwich was pretty decent which had a juicy grilled chicken breast, leaf lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, red onions, & mayo on thick sourdough toast. The kettle chips were warm and very crunchy. I was also offered free refills on my soft drink. The portable radio at my table was spent (battery low), so I traded the portable radio at the welcome station for a charged portable radio.
Overall, the food was decent, the service from the waitress was pretty good, but I did not care for the attitude from the welcome station. This location covers my NFL needs (plenty of big high definition TVs and sounds from all games), but I still prefer going to the Troy location.
