Rene's Bar

This is one of my favorite bars in the whole Houma-Thibodaux area. I love a good dive and this place is as good as it gets. It's got a great jukebox, an interesting mix of people, cheap drinks and great owners. Unfortunately in my old age of 30, I've started to have problems handling the smoke in this place. On a weekend when it gets crowded the bar can get a visible low-hanging cloud of cigarette smoke and you'll have to wash your hair and your clothes multiple times to get the smell out. It's a lot better on weeknights. But if you're intrepid and your lungs can handle it, Rene's is the best bar in Thibodaux to hang out, shoot pool, throw some money away on the jukebox and catch up with old friends and new.

I consider myself a dive bar aficionado, and when fate and random chance placed me in Thibodaux I yelped dive bars and chose Rene's as it had 1 half star more than the other place. THIS PLACE KICKS ASS! The beer is dirt cheap, the long island ice tea was easily the best I've ever had, the regulars are friendly and shots of Jamison are 3 dollars. The antique bar is gorgeous and it's not hard to figure out why this place has been kicking for over 100 years. If you're looking for a cold brew in Thibodaux look no further than Rene's, and remember to bring cash (and coins for the pool table)

Young and old drinkers in Thibodaux all have one thing in common, they stop at Rene's at one point during a night out. It has the cheapest beer in town (cash only), but don't expect a wide variety in your drinks. The crowd is full of barely legal types and the barely alive regulars that circle the bar at all hours of the day. Rene's has a funky local vibe to it. The main problem is that you probably lose 5-years of your life each time you come here due to all of the smoke you inhale. You should wash your clothes and shower immediately upon leaving here; which could be a good pick-up line.
