Totally looks like a biker bar from the outside, and a little like some weird school trailer/cafeteria inside... but that might be because of the salad bar on wheels in the middle of the "dining room" floor. There was live music on the patio, definitely the hangout for the locals which led to some very strange, yet somehow mesmerizing, dance moves. It was fun and the pizza was good. Nothing was necessarily amazing about it, but it does have a great feel right next to the river.

If you sit outside, the view is beautiful. It's literally right next to river.

The River View Restaurant is a great experience for me. The patio sits right beside the river. Yes , they have LIVE MUSIC with great bands you can dance to , or just enjoy playing a game of pool, and meeting the locals.

I play with the band from the central coast, Maheyla and The Ritual and we love coming back here to play once a year on the weekends. Coming up June 29th and the June 30th , 2013 we will be playing our hearts out to the locals and tourists.

Usual hours for live entertainment in the summer, are:
Saturday Late Night, 10pm -1 am, &
Sunday Afternoon , 4pm-8pm. on the Patio right next to the river !

I always order to eat . my favorites : a Custom Wood Fired Pizza, a Deluxe Burger or Fried Chicken are the best things on the menu for me. I love the ice cold on tap Beer of many flavors. Usually a Pale Ale.

As far as the area goes (one yelper accurately called it a "foodie wasteland") this place was great. The view from the patio is excellent, the service is really good, and the food is edible. We ate here several times over the course of our stay. Our favorite was the burgers, which came as ordered, rare, and tasted really good. The pizza was pretty good too. The service is energetic, attentive and enthusiastic. I recommend this restaurant.

There really is a great view on the patio / deck area! Service is great, our waitress was very personable and courteous. Food arrived in a timely manner, it's not amazing food, but it's not terrible. Homemade pizza was good, got the Hawaiian -you can never go wrong with Hawaiian. My family and I will be dining here when we come back!

We stayed nearby and got in late Friday night and were looking for somewhere close by to eat. Having not expected much, our expectations were met, if not exceeded.

After being told to sit anywhere and finding nothing available in the full on karaoke dive bar, we retreated to the dark cave like exterior where we were pleasantly surprised that the karaoke was loud enough for us to make fun of and quiet enough to have a normal conversation.

It took the waiters eyes a few minutes to adjust to the low light outside but after being located in the depth of the cave solely by the whites of our eyes he strolled over and informed us that the kitchen had closed early. It was 10 to nine and the kitchen was supposed to stay open until 9. He graciously offered to see what he could do for us and rustle up for us. He returned promptly with two full menus and told us we could have anything we wanted as long as we wanted pizza.

We ordered a supreme pizza and a glass of wine and beer on tap. The waiter was unable to tell us what brand of beer they actually sold. He ran down the extensive three beer menu by type of beer. When asked for the specific type of IPA, he replied, "well, it's an India pale ale." thank you so much Mr. Knowledgable Waiter Man. When I then specified that I was interested in the brand he shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't really drink. Having been intrigued at the detailed explanation of what an IPA was, we ordered one. After our intellectual discussion on beer varietals, we decided to forgo asking for further details on the Chardonnay in fear he might explain it was from grapes.

The menu having warned us that the pizza could take up to 45 minutes to lovingly prepare, we were pleasantly surprised when it arrived in about 15 or 20.

It may be our hunger speaking but we were pleasantly surprised that all of the veggies on the pizza were fresh chopped and bursting with flavor. None of the veggies were overcooked and the crust was good and crispy. Not the best pizza, but surprisingly adequate given the minimal expectations.

The environment was an intriguing mix of the relaxing sound of the river mixed with drunken outbursts of the locals.

We have a hard time envisioning that a return to this place would yield a different experience. Next time we are in Three Rivers, we will not be returning as we will plan ahead and cook in our rental or try one of the few other local restaurants.

The food was inedible. I am not a food snob. I literally have not come across worse food. How can you ruin a baked potato? The service was horrible. I actually felt sorry for our poor, overworked waitress. She simply could not keep up with the volume. I was able to order a decent beer, make that 3 as we waited forever for our horrible food. The patio is on the river, which is nice. I wish someone would buy out the owners so we could have a nice place to eat on the scenic spot. Too bad. Will never go back again.

Okay, so I'm seeing a few pretty bad reviews of late and thought I would throw my two cents in.

Granted Three Rivers is not a culinary mecca. Yes, the place is for sale. Maybe it's too hot / too cold / a couple flies on the patio on the day I was there / smells a little like beer / has a pool table / I got car sick on the ride up (are you kidding me)....

So, good things.....decent pizza that is cooked in a deck oven and not on a conveyor (half price on Mondays), Taco Tuesday with some pretty darn good tacos (think JimBoys parmesan style but better), Kaweah burger (pineapple and teriyaki), fried chicken is excellent & sweet potato fries are pretty hard to mess up. There are many other decent options on the menu as well. Use your head, if you are expecting California Cuisine or a top notch salad, you might be disappointed.

The vibe is laid back and welcoming, there is an expansive deck/patio, and yes a pool table. Live music some nights & you might run into some locals:) Just relax, order a pitcher of Brewbaker's beer and enjoy the surroundings!

DO NOT GO!!!! My husband and I walked in and walked right out. The pictures are not accurate and it is so run down. Right when you walk in you see nasty floors, pool table, crap on the ceiling and a old bar. Then if you dare to walk further than that then you see not even like a restaurant set up. It was so disappointing to drive all the way up there just to get car sick and not eat. Seriously don't waste your time going. It's mostly a bar for the locals. I don't even know how they pass inspection.

Disclaimer - I actually didn't make it into the restaurant but drove past it when I was looking for a nice place to have dinner on a Sunday night, so this is a review of the outside and reasons for not wanting to go inside.

Reading the reviews for this place I was expecting to find a restaurant with outdoor seating that had a nice view of the river. What I saw Sunday evening was a dive bar with no real parking lot, at best I might call this place a sports bar.

The only reason this place garnered two whole stars as opposed to one is that no one from our party got food poisoning. One star is reserved for the truly atrocious.

That said, this place sucked. We stayed in Three Rivers for one night and decided to eat here since we were having a late dinner and the only other place nearby was the pizza joint and I don't eat dairy. We read the reviews but some were positive so we decided to take a chance...wrong choice. This place is only in business because they have a monopoly, a monopoly I tells you!!

The outside and bar area really grossed out my mom, who has pretty much never seen a dive bar, but the outside patio was nice enough before it got pitch black and the only thing lighting our plates was the rope light way overhead (which, as you can imagine, made things very difficult and unnerving). The reason it was so dark when were eating is that getting our food took well OVER AN HOUR. And our meal consisted of a soup+salad, a chicken salad, and a plain old burger. The waitress was sympathetic and knowing (makes me think this happens a lot!) but didn't offer a solution/discount and what's worse, they took our order lickety-split without informing us they were short-staffed or whatever the hell was wrong with this dump.

On top of the horrendous wait was the fact that our simple fare was beyond lackluster. I could have gotten a better chicken salad in a clam shell at a grocery store and not spent $10+ on iceberg, some pre-sliced mushrooms, mushy tomatoes and cold, diced chicken with a charming plastic container of the worst honey-mustard ever. My mom's cream of celery soup was thick as pudding, and she never received her bread (crucial in a soup, salad, and bread combo). My husband couldn't tell if his burger was medium-rare because there was no light. At least the fries were okay...

The prices were crazy for the quality of the food, but that's because, like I said, they have a monopoly on the Three Rivers late-dinner scene. Oh, and our live music act was a dj spinning dubstep and/or Sneaker Pimps. I wish we'd just gone to the supermarket.

Good food and nice view. Looks like a dive bar coming in, but keep walking to the patio. Ribs were soft n delicious, but BBQ sauce was a lil lacking. Brother had the Three Rivers Burger and that was really good! Mom had Sherman Burger and that was pretty good too. My only recommendation would be to have more pastrami. I'd recommend this place for a good dinner after Sequoia.

Disgusting. Outside seating was dirty and flies everywhere. Went back inside to find a table. It was hot and flies were everywhere!!! Yes lots of flies INSIDE! There was even a layer of dead flies on the floor. We thought we would get pizza but it says 45 mins. The thought of all the flies and the hot, sweaty atmosphere grossed us out. If the flies were in the seating area, what did the kitchen look like?? We paid for our drinks and walked out. We found a better restaurant down the road.

I got to say, food looked decent but how can anyone eat in that environment. Clean the place for god sakes!! Oh that's probably why there is a for sale sign outside.

Stay away!! You were warned,

The pizza here was such a godsend, particularly after a long day at the park. They also have some microbrewed beer on tap, which was very refreshing. The inside section is a little rough, but the outside seating by the river is nice and also kid friendly. This was by far our best dining experience in Three Rivers.

We ate here after our visit to Kings Canyon & Seqoia NP, the dinner was very disappointing, the service was a bit unfriendly and the meal itself was untasteful.

We also had a bit of trouble with the bill, and our waitress was unhelpful so we actually had to make some trouble trying to fix the error she made.

This was probably our least favorite dining experience in Three Rivers and I'm being generous with the stars since all the food is pretty meh in the town. We opted to sit on the patio, which, while beautiful was a huge mistake because of the flies and the "meat bees." Yes, once the meat came out we were attacked by what appeared to be ravenous wasps. The waitress said they've tried to get rid of them but nothing seems to work. I dunno, being attacked by wasps kind of took my appetite away somehow.

I had a veggie burger, which was pretty good. The salad was pretty wilted looking. Hubby had the tri-tip, which appeared to be reheated with some sauce and was so-so. Prices weren't bad, but do yourself a favor and don't sit outside!

This was the first place we had dinner in 3 Rivers. The next day we were set to visit the Sequoia National Forest!

We read the reviews on yelp to find a decent place to eat. We read the good reviews and the positive reviews. We figured the experience was somewhere in the middle. We were right, but it was closer to a C minus than a B minus.

The setting is beautiful. Eating outdoors on the banks of a rushing river is really a cool experience. I couldn't help but think how the location was totally wasted on this poorly run, under staffed, mediocre restaurant.

Service was friendly -- really friendly. I liked my waitress alot. However, she and the rest of her cohorts are completely blind! They can look past you and completely ignore your wild gesturing. We started to make a game out of it at our table -- "I'll bet she wont' see this!"

The Food -- 100% mediocre! I had the fried chicken basket. I've had better chicken at the Deli at the supermarket ( I mean Ralphs and Vons -- not Gelsons or Whole Foods or Bristol Farms!) I buy better french fries from the frozen food section ( Ore-Ida Y'all) I'll say this though about it -- it was edible!

My husband had the waitress recommended Blue Cheeseburger! -- His reaction. Meh..... . On a scale of 1- 10 he gave his burger a 3.
The burgers the kids had were okay -- but they like McDonalds! ( No judges of fine cuisine there!)

They had tiki lamps on the patio that added to the ambiance . The lamps also cut down on the flies. It may not be fair to ding a restaurant for flies, but.... If they had lit every tiki lamp they had they might have cut down on the flies in the patio much more significantly. It's hard to eat while you're batting the air constantly with one hand. Additionally, a gnat committed suicide in my beer. Shame on me for ordering draft. If you come here, get a bottle. Harder for bugs to fall in!

This place could really rock! The food is meh and people might tolerate that a lot better if the service weren't so bad! I don't blame the waitresses. This is poor training and poor management.
My guess is that it's hard to find competent people to work in this tiny little hamlet.

If this place were in L.A. Top Chefs would be fighting tooth and nail for the location and you could NEVER get in without a reservation or an entourage. It's a shame! It could be so much better.

At the end of our evening, I overheard the bartender ask the wait staff if they needed any help serving. Evidently, it was obvious even to him that they weren't' keeping up. They told him no. They were wrong. They needed help!

My recommendation.

Bring your own can of "off"
Eat in your car and just come here and sit on the patio for a beer. Oh and bring your own beer. You'll get it faster!

Would we return -- uh... probably not.

Coming through Three Rivers? Looking for a local dive to eat/have a beer? Of course you are, if you are going to the Sequoias. I expected a weird vibe, coming inside... being a clear non-native of Three Rivers..but don't worry...it's completely chill and relaxed.

Need a preemptive touch of nature? The best part about this place is the mountain stream! Sit outside, the patio is where it's at. Nice selection of tap beers...and okay food if you enjoy burgers. If you aren't okay with the noise of the bar atmosphere...the stream will drown out the sound of people and get you in the mood for those crazy black bears in the national park!

I've been twice and will likely go again, next time I'm in Three Rivers.

Good burger- waitress said burgers are the thing for lunch and she was right- had the onion rings- cant go wrong with onion rings. Waitrress was really nice and would bring out a tea for me before i needed to ask. I had the tereyaki burger with pineapple and tereyaki sauce- dont know why i decided to order this but glad i did. pretty dang goo. apparently they have a couple of burgers that have pastrami on them- sounds weird and unfortunately they were out of pastrami :( maybe next time!

I love coming through here to grab a bite to eat, the atmosphere here is just plain awesome and the food is really good too. You have the choice of eating inside ,but why would you do that when you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the river rushing by right next to you! This place is always packed with tourist during the summer. Come in and enjoy some local brewed beer. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I rolled into Three Rivers last Thursday for a pre-Memorial Day mini-vacation, planning to enjoy the wonders of Sequoia National Park without having to get cold or sweaty too much. There are about six places to eat in Three Rivers, and after a drive-by visual of all of them, we selected the River View for our first day's dinner.

We parked and walked in to this roadhouse-looking place, reminding me more than a little of Porky's, but without the humidity and the fat guys. Open the door to a big wooden room, pool tables, dartboard, bar, couple of truckloads of locals, and a great looking patio-deck built along the river. So far so good.

I asked the hostess if they served tourists, and she said sure, how do you like them? and we were hooked. It was early and there was plenty of patio seating available. Other tables were occupied by families with children, a bunch of bikers, and other assorted locals. We were served by a really good waitress and her junior associate. The associate took our drink order. My wife ordered a Corona, and the associate wasn't sure if they had Corona (?). I ordered a Sapphire martini up, and that sent the associate running for the waitress, who assured us that they did in fact stock Corona, but not Sapphire, so I changed my order to generic gin. She then admitted they didn't have any martini glasses, but would a gimlet glass be okay? So we got our drinks and enjoyed the river, watched a raft full of adventurers shoot by. Nice.

Menu was basic sports bar menu. Pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, baskets, appetizers, some entrees. My wife had a basic cheeseburger, and I ordered beef ribs. Our food came promptly, burger and fries were fine. Salads were well constructed with a lot of additional vegetables for our dining pleasure. My beef ribs, however, turned out to be baby back ribs, which weren't even on the menu! I admitted to myself that I would have probably ordered them instead of the beef ribs, so it worked out.

The bill was really pretty inexpensive, and drinks were a bargain. Food, service, and ambiance were all a big plus, so much that we decided to come back to the River View the following afternoon for dinner. We got the same great waitress, who announced a special that wasn't on the menu, baby back ribs, she said with a wink.

I give the River View four stars, because it's fun and friendly and they bring you food and drinks. I would guess it gets even more fun in the evening, with live entertainment and a group realization that you are probably in the only place in town that has such a warm vibe.

Now, about the town: Three Rivers is about ten miles long and about a hundred yards wide. Everything is built along the highway that runs from Lake Kaweah to the national park. Everything off the highway is private property (and that's where the river runs). It's called Three Rivers evidently because you can see the River exactly Three times as you drive through the town. If you're staying at one of the motels in town (and we were) and you want to go for a walk or a run, your only option is along the shoulder of Sierra Highway. There's not even a city park that I could see. If I lived there, I would be embarrassed....

Not too shabby. Not shabby at all. What's actually cool about this place is that it's the only place that had a certificate on http://restaurant.com. You can't go in expecting a culinary masterpiece, but they realize that and make basic food pretty well.

They have a bunch of steaks to choose from, and it looks like they grill it outside. I ordered the prime rib, and it came out looking way too well done, but as I let it sit there, it gained it's color back. Not quite a medium rare, but a solid medium.

I think where I was sitting, I was kind of in the void between waitress territories. The person who I think was the designated waitress was terribly slow and very much a space case.

It also is a place that is open late. Like 1:30 late, not Three Rivers late at 8:30.

Could be an absolute gold mine. Not bad as it is right now. The laid back atmosphere and river flow is almost mesmerizing for a Phoenix captive like me. I've only had the wings so far, but I really like them. They are pre-cooked, but they're meaty and really good. The downside, my first order was still cool at the bone, but the meat was cooked. That's how I know they aren't fresh made. BUT, they are large, and perfectly battered like those I used to get in Chicago's south side years ago. Always my favorite style!! I drive about 45 minutes to get here when I'm in the area, and it's worth it! I've never seen anyone unhappy with their food or the service. Just remember where you are, and enjoy the fact that your here, and not in some shithole dump in the city.

The good: Cool view and chill atmosphere, plus they had the Celtics game on TV.

The bad: Overpriced 2-star pizza.

Drink some beers, shoot a game of pool, watch the river rush by, but skip the pizza.

Was looking for dinner with my girlfriend late (8:30 is late in Three Rivers, CA) Saturday night after we checked into a motel. The guy at the front office recommended either The Riverview or a Mexican place a little further down the road. Drove by Riverview in the dark and decided to bypass it. It looked pretty unappealing from the street at 45mph, and I didn't feel like risking my stomach that night.

Luckily the next morning, we passed the restaurant again, this time looking for some food to take on the road up into the national park. It was only after we pulled up into the parking lot that we noticed some of the nicer details of the outside, including two really nice signs which are basically invisible from the street where they would do the business more good. The only thing visible signage when passing is an old, lit up box that looks like those generic small-town cafe that you see throughout the southwest.

Walking up to the front door, we were merrily greeted by an employee walking out the door. When we went in, two more very cheerful ladies greeted us and looked truly happy to make us feel comfortable. While we didn't find the road food we were looking for, the waitresses were happy to recommend a bakery up the road. I've been to many a place that gave some heavy attitude after finding out we weren't going to stay. Instead, they also told us about the live raggae music that evening. That struck me right, and we promised we'd return later that day.

Well, we did and I'm so glad we came back. The band they had playing on the back patio was fantastic. The back patio is beautiful and sits right along the river (which was RAGING this time of the year). Really awesome atmosphere. We knocked back a couple local beers on tap (good price) and ordered some $6 (eek) seasonsed fries. The fries were very good, though if you are sensitive about your salt intake, you better stay away...these things were VERY "seasoned".

The best part overall was the vibe of the place. The waitresses earlier should have tipped us off, but once a crowd showed up, the place remained cheerful, laid-back, casual, and fun. It appeared that there was a good mix of locals and tourists, and everybody got along. Moms were dancing with their kids, dads were enjoying some cold beverages, and some younger people were meeting up with their friends.

Perfect way to end a weekend up in the park. Definitely stop by if you have a chance to catch one of their music nights.

After a long morning of riding on the motorcycle, my wife and I happened on this place in Three Rivers. Stopping in for a late lunch, the place was pretty empty but it was 2pm. Not exactly the time for a lunch rush.

The place was pretty straight-forward looking, not fancy but not a dive. Basically a bar that serves food from a fairly full menu.

We sat on the patio and were treated to a great view of the river while eating. Our burgers were large and delicious! Definitely worth the price.

Highly recommend this place as a stop on your way into King's Canyon/Sequoia Nat'l Park.

It was SO YUMMY.

The staff was uber friendly... we got there at (i'm SOOOO not joking about this) 1 pm... We left around 10:30.

Booze is cheap, the buffet was $15 a person... the view outside was beautiful.

Come here. FOR SURE. It was YUM!!!!

Oh, and there's a pool table... and lots of tvs to watch on game day!

The food in Three Rivers is terrible and this is no exception. The atmosphere here is very divey and it feels like you are in Twin Peaks. Really seedy and something is definitely wrong here. I don't get why every place in this town is so bad. Surely there could be 1 good restaurant but I've almost been to all of them and they all suck -- the food sucks and the service is worse.

I didn't come for the food but I enjoyed the atmosphere, the locals, and being on the river. We didn't make it for the band but it sounded like they were a big hit in town. The beer was more expensive than other places but it wasn't horrible. They also had local beers on tap which was a plus!

Conveniently located, delicious food, and fantastic ambiance if you sit out on the patio. We visited this place for lunch after spending a day in the winding roads of the Sequioa National Park to mark "see the world's largest tree (by mass)" off my mother's bucket list.

We both had cheeseburgers with Ortega green chile (SOOOO delicious) and my mother kept the fries while I substituted their deep fried mushrooms. The burgers were cooked very well on these light fluffy buns of deliciousness. The fried mushrooms were divine. And all of this was served out on a deck that overlooks the river. We listened the soothing sound of rushing water while we sipped our drinks in the gorgeous weather. The service was super friendly and very accommodating. They didn't bat a lash at making substitutions and our drinks never stayed empty.

For a casual place to spend a leisurely lunch or grab a quick bite, this place is perfect.

Came in on Friday late afternoon. Place had a few customers and was starting to get busy. They had three wines to choose from. One of which was a box wine. We grabbed a couple glasses and headed out to the beatiful riverside patio. Dont expect any service if you come outside. We sat out ther an hour and no one came by to see if we wanted another drink.

Strong drinks, way cheap prices, and a crappy cover band that the locals seem to love....Isn't that what a good bar is all about? Now I am rating this strictly on drinks. I am not sure I would ever step in here to eat a meal, but I would definitely come back to get my drink on.

It deserves three stars, but I have given an extra star to all establishments in Three Rivers for the sake of them existing at all. It's tiny town void of much charm, save the beautiful river that you can't get near (unless you are in-the-know). Also, I'm not sure why it's called a sports bar. There are two pool tables, but the ONE television didn't have sports on. It wasn't even turned on. They did let us try all we wanted to get a nationally televised hockey playoff game, but to no avail. They have fuzzy basic cable on one small TV.

We ended up sitting outside on their large patio overlooking the Kaweah river, which at that moment was the best thing ever. The beer was $2.50 at happy hour, $3.50 regularly. BARGAIN. I got the IPA and it was really yummy. The buffalo chicken wings, fried to perfection, came without buffalo sauce, which is the ONLY reason I order buffalo wings. They come with ranch and BBQ sauce. What a waste. The burgers and sandwiches are solid at $8 a pop. The pizza was crusty and yummy, too.

Apparently they have live music at night, if you're into that sort of thing.

My wife and I recently made a trip to visit Sequoia Park and were staying in the Three Rivers area. After being disappointed during several meals at other places (see my other reviews) we asked a local for a recommendation and she steered us to the River View. When we walked in and saw the place full of locals shooting pool and laughing at the bar in their cowboy hats, we knew we had found the right place.

We ordered up some drinks and two prime rib dinners and were not disappointed. Quality was very good, service was friendly, and the prices were extremely reasonable. I look forward to going there again during our next trip to Sequoia.

We stumbled off the trail after three days on Eagle Lake. We were filthy, wild-eyed -- and demanding french fries and burgers. The Riverview delivered all that and more. I had the blue cheese burger on a fresh baked bun, others delighted in the bacon cheeseburger, the mushroom swiss, the fish and chips. Free refills on sodas. friendly service -- and, a wide open view of the fast flowing kiweah river. if we had stayed longer, we could have watched the afternoon show -- the band "Freedom slave" was playing. The perfect stop before heading back home.

Had I seen this on Yelp, and saw that it was listed as a sports bar before we went here, I would have avoided it. Driving by it several time did not reveal its true nature. Ya know, generally, I think choosing a restaurant by the crowd of cars in the parking lot is a decent strategy. On reflection though, I realize that in Pasadena, this would mean that I ate at the Cheesecake Factory all the time. If you read my review of that place, you'll find this is being far from the truth.

It was late and we were starving and judging by the number of cars outside of this place, we hoped for good meal. My bad feeling as soon as we stepped inside - indeed, its more of sports bar. We seated ourselves and got drinks fairly promptly. The menu consisted of sandwiches, pizza, steaks and some fish. Our waitress took our order not too long after we got our drinks - I ordered a chicken sandwich and Wendy ordered fish. We then waited for our salads. And wait, waited. Wendy threatened to leave if the table next to us, who showed up ten minutes after us, got their food before us. Well they didn't, we got our salads at the same time. Then we waited, and waited, and waited and watched that same table get their entrees, and waited and finally got our food.

I swear to god, there was less than 2 oz. of chicken on my sandwich, I think they must have been running out or something and cut a breast in like thirds. Wendy's fish was, deep-fried and boring. We both got heaped of terrible fries.

Jesus, this place sucked. Even the creek side setting couldn't save it. Bad food, bad service. It's the kind of dining experience that sort of makes you mad because of its sucky-ness.
