The Riviera Restaurant & Liz's Lounge

Hung out here on a Saturday evening and listened to T-Bear while enjoying a bottle of wine and dinner.

Much of the food is pre-packaged, but tastes decent. Don't look for a chef here, but if you like to step back in time and pay a reasonable price for adult libations, this is the place for you.

The staff is VERY friendly and I'm sure the view is stellar during the day. Houghton Lake is beautiful any time of year.

The interior seriously looks like time stood still in 1975 and is fantastically charming. I'm glad we came, but wouldn't choose it for the cuisine. Check out the mirror behind the bar or the old-school ashtrays in the bathroom...no smoking, please!!

A reservation was made for a large group which we asked ahead if they could accommodate. They responded yes. We arrived about 5 minutes early and they were not prepared. After finally seated the roof began to leak and we (not the wait staff or management) moved the tables to get out from under the leak. Afterwards the hotel manager began to wait on us while answering the phone and managing the front desk (clearly understaffed!!!!). 21/2 hours later we were served our food in waves with the children being served last (there were 7 children plus 10 adults) with over fried nuggets, warm and unedible chicken salad, cold Rubens, etc.  To add to the misery they forgot the ice cream dessert for the 7 kid meals and refused to give any compensation for the poor service and food. DO NOT GO TO THIIS RESTAURANT!!!!!!
