I hope this is the right place, because it would be a shame if I'm reviewing the wrong restaurant. Nevertheless, how many Roadhouse Bar & Grill's can there be in Strong City, Kansas?
Due to skipping lunch, I craved something good and filling for dinner. Something... meaty. Something...malty and hoppy. Something...fried. Something Kansas. I whipped my car around after driving past at 65 miles per hour and pulled into the very unassuming lot. Immediately upon walking in I felt like an outsider. Not in a bad way, but in the sort of way that everyone, a total of about seven people, in the place knew one another. Everyone had stories to tell and everyone knew who each person was talking about. From the story about a woman pregnant with her eighth kid to the guy whose niece got into tractor accident, each story was full of legitimate care and concern.
On to the food! After ordering a draft Budweiser for a buck twenty-five, I decided on a cheeseburger with fries made with real potatoes. And I can honestly say that it was the best cheeseburger and fries that I have ever had the pleasure of eating at a restaurant. The meat was juicy, the ingredients fresh, and the fries were cooked to perfection. Everything for a little over five bucks. I had already fallen in love with Kansas, but Roadhouse solidified my love for such a strangely beautiful state.
