If I could give zero stars I would.. this place has gone down the toilet in the past few years. Last I remember it was delicious with outstanding service and incredible atmosphere. This trip was just the opposite.

First we weren't greated or awknoledged when we walked in, and it was not even busy. Then I ordered margaritas for me and my dad while my dad washed his hands one with salt one without... it took forever to get them (remember it wasn't even busy) and when we did they both had salt. Not a big deal but... really?

Next we ordered.. I ordered a " Veggie Enchalada" or maybe it was a "Veggie" Tamale I don't rememeber. Either way it was a "Veggie" one. Maybe it's just me but when you read "Veggie" something don't you assume that means there will be vegetables in it? Wrong. This was a cheese enchalada or tamale, not veggie!! It was okay but definitely NOT what I thought I ordered.

The food took forever to get and it was only so so. Definitely not a good experience.

We love this place and always stop on our Mammoth trips but sadly, it appears to have closed.  Does anyone know what happened?  Seriously bummed about this.  :(

I have been to Roberto's three times. I have tried the carne asada, carnitas, and chili verde.  Most of the food that I've tried is very good.  The carnitas kind of bummed me out because I like them more crisp.  I haven't tried the beans, rice, or chips, so I can't comment on those.  I have enjoyed the salsa, pico de gallo, and guacamole.

All in all, the food is tasty, and is a beacon of light in this town that rolls up the sidewalks at 8 pm.

Get your grub on while you can.

I found this place after a long day of motocross riding out in the Mojave desert (i.e. Jawbone, Dove Springs, Cal City, Spangler Hills).  Roberto's is not very lit up, so if you're not looking, you'll miss it.  It's about mid-way through the town of Mojave on the 14 freeway before you leave town for your trip home (or before the 58 split if you're heading North).  This place is truly great.  The food tastes authentic down to the chips and salsa, which are perfect.  I usually get the chicken tostado and it is perfect as well.  I've been stopping here EVERY time on my way home.  It's fairly empty every time I go, so I want to make people aware of this place so it continues to exist.  The price is right and the staff is nice.  It's a nice change in comparison to Denny's, McDonald's, Carl's Junior and all the other fast-food crap in the area.
