This place needs a visit from Bar Rescue!
Pros: It's dark so you can't see as much of the filth
Cons: Everything: food, service, TVs, bathrooms, cleanliness
There really is nothing positive to say about this place, so I am shocked by the positive reviews.
Went there for the first time ever to meet some friends out to watch NFL (their recommendation).
First thing when you walk in it is really dark, which helps with their TV situation. Yes they do have a LOT of TVs, but they appeared to ALL be low-def. They even have a lot of CRT (tube) TVs, who has those anymore? The two big screens are low-def LCD projectors that are somewhat dim.
Now - on to the service. Â The rest of our 4 person group was already present, and I was greeted fairly quickly (although I did have a seat right in the middle, a high-traffic area). I asked for a water and said I would be ordering food. The water came out 10 min later and my buddy nearly grabbed it, as he had ordered one 30 min. ago. The place is allegedly known for their wings, but after glancing at my buddy's I opted for the mushroom/blue-cheese burger. Granted, he didn't get the "signature wings" (which are a $1 a piece - they better be good) but the standard "hot" wings which he indicated were fairly mild (as others have on here). Appeared to bigger than BW3, but nothing special.
I ordered my burger at halftime, medium-well. The burger/fries arrived in the 4th quarter (close to an hour). The burger was luke warm at best (surprisingly fries were hot) and WAS BRIGHT PINK (even in the darkness).  In hindsight, I should have sent it back (yes I literally got sick later) but I didn't want to wait another hour.  In addition, the top bun was smashed, and the attempted toasting of it had one side completely black. This did not appear to be a half-pound burger (not even close) definitely not worth the $10.
The whole two+ hours I was in there the server never filled (nor even asked) to refill my water. Finally, as I was close to the bar I refilled my own from the bartender.
Lastly, I made one trip to the restroom, which not surprisingly had dirty tile floor, paper all over floor, and NO SOAP (at 2:30 PM on  a Sunday). Hopefully the kitchen staff had separate hand washing facilities.
In summation, if you want to sit in the dark, squint at low-def TVs, receive poor service and overpay for undercooked and ill-prepared food, by all means go. Â I assume this place stays in business because of its proximity to the Ford plant. They may have great wings but I'll never know as I won't be back. (Note: normally I would have relayed my experience to the mgmt., but I didn't want to upset my friends since they had picked the place and claimed to like it).
Our waitress was horrible! When she started to take our order she said it could take an hour for food to come out cause there was a big party in front of us. Â Then when we were leaving asking to cash out she was mad and then said if you order wings it would take 20 mins. I don't like a place that has to tell us what to order. I hope rooties take this feedback a get better at customer service!
Review Source:Have you ever driven by the same restaurant over and over again and said to yourself, "I wonder if that place is any good? I should really try it one of these days." Well Rootie's was that place for me, "was" being the operative word. After a rec from a neighbor, a quick search on Yelp and a look at their menu, I decided to pick up some wings on the way home and about one bite in, I started kicking myself for not venturing out to Rootie's earlier.
We got a single order (10) of their "Signature Award Winning Gourmet Charcoal Grilled Barbeque Wings" and they were, hands down, the best wings we have ever had. The wings themselves were big, juicy and meaty, not those pitiful dried-out pigeon wings that they serve at most fast-food wing places. And the taste on these bad boys - amazing. Sweet from their signature BBQ sauce and smoky from chill-laxing on the charcoal grill. Dipped in their side of homemade bleu cheese and you have the best wings in Louisville. (I do like my wings a tad bit more spicy, but you can order the wings mild, medium, hot, honey BBQ or drop dead suicide...so I think I'll be good next time around. You can also get your wings regular, with fresh garlic, extra-wet, breaded or grilled.)
The restaurant itself is actually really nice. From the outside it looks both small and seedy, but inside it was incredible spacious, with a ton of TV's, a projector and an arcade area in the back. Heck, even if it was small and seedy, I would be back there for the wings alone.
(Note: the five star rating is for the wings and will probably remain that way since I can't foresee myself getting anything else!)
Rootie's caught our eye recently because from the outside it looks like just the sort of shady, hole-in-the-wall place that would boast the sort of wings fellow Yelpers have bragged on. Inside was a different story - very nice, updated interior with TVs and projectors everywhere, large bar, spacious booths. Great choice for an NFL Sunday.
My choice of the French Dip was a good one. Others in my party agreed the wings lived up to the Yelp fame. Fries were meh.
One star loss due to slow service and the beer prices being a little higher than expected. Their specials were not that special. But, I'm always on the search for a good sports bar and this one will definitely be getting a repeat attendance.
In searching for a new venue to watch football, Rootie's seemed like a logical choice. Close to home and equipped with the NFL network, we decided to give it a shot to catch some Monday Night Football.
It was a mixed experience, but I believe we'll be back to give it another go on a Sunday. The venue was great for watching football, with a large projector showing the game with audio enough to hear commentary. Moreover, the wings were said to be better than another chain-restaurant's that we had frequented for football prior...a Rootie's victory in our minds.
However, it was fairly vacant when we went. The one bartender wasn't enough to carry the number of clients they had, so our table went largely neglected...not her fault but I would have expected another worker on shift to balance out the crowd. Hopefully it was a result of it being Monday. I'll also say that the soup of the day (loaded potato) was bland, as were the french fries. Lastly, the prices were surprisingly high considering the hole-in-the-wall feel it gives off.
All said, I'll give Rootie's the benefit of the doubt and call it 4-stars, with the likelihood of a repeat visit.
Man, this place has some good wings.
I experienced Rooties on a Monday afternoon for lunch with co-workers. We were the only ones in the place! I can't figure out why it wasn't packed with people on their lunch break! So, we had excellent, friendly attention from the waitstaff, which was nice.
I went with the basket of 10 wings with medium-hot sauce. It was delicious! The wings were meaty, cooked well (not dried out) and the bleu cheese sauce provided on the side was a great accompaniment--had a ranch tang to it while still having the classic bleu cheese chunks. Awesome.
If hot wings aren't your thing, Rootie's specialized in grilled barbeque wings as well. I did not try those, but my lunch companions all did and they seemed very pleased with their selection. For those who don't eat wings (I know a few people like that, crazy, I know), Rooties has a nice-sized sandwich menu as well.
The restaurant had a nice sports-bar like feel without being fancy. They have pool tables, many TVs... Very simple and unpretentious with a "neighborhood bar" feel. I could see myself going for drinks after work, watching a game, or just dropping into satisfy wing cravings. Mmm.... Wings.
Hello,
Well I don't write reviews but I was in town looking for a place to have a couple of beers and watch the football game when I did a search on my Cell phone and found this place.
I had a very good time! They had alot of TV's all over the place and the food was GREAT! I had a burger which was very good and couple of beers. I think the owner came out to see how everything was and I was surprise about this! but he seem very nice. I went on a Sunday afternoon which was quiet but it seems that they get busy on Saturdays and Fridays. Well I have a very good time and when I am ever back in town this is a place I will make a stop at. Keep up the good job!
Looking for a place to hang with pool tables, poker tournaments, pool tournaments, corn holing, alcoholic beverages and food. This is a place to go. Not very busy but I believe once word gets around it'll be popping at least that's what I think.
They have a pretty good happy hour between the hours of 4pm - 7pm. The servers are great but the owner, at least I think he's the owner (his pictures are all over the wall) looks a bit unhappy. Most of times I've gone their he's stared at us funny. Hard working man though, he made sure if we have an empty cup or an empty food tray he's very quick to snatch it up and take it away.
The nacho fries their are killer, cheap and loaded good. They're chicken wings are pretty good as well. Can't complain how often can you screw up fried foods?
I love the atmosphere and decor...like I said great place to hang. Will definitely go their again.
