The servers aren't too attentive here. Â But it's as good as it gets for a chain restaurant, I'd think. Â It's actually the only chain restaurant I frequent, largely due to the coupons they often appear in the newspaper. Â Look out for those.
The salad bar is always stocked and fresh. Â
The bar area has high-top roomy booths. Â
My food today (Chicken Parmesan Pasta) was good. Â It's consistently good.
We had another crack at this location tonight when we went out with seafood on our minds. Herb Crusted Tilapia for me and Salmon Florentine for my wife.
This time Marc was our sever. He was new but quite knowledgeable and easy to work with. He was juggling several tables but as far as I could tell no one had to wait long for anything.
The food was good on this night also. The buffet salad is hard to mess up and was fresh as usual, My wife's pan fried green beans were cooked just right and served hot. This was always an issue in the past but it seems to have been worked out. My baked potato was cooked perfect with the skin not baked too hard. I always eat the entire potato and really hate to get one that has sat under a heat lamp for long.
The only issue we had was that the hostess sat a couple in the booth behind us when we were 2/3 done with our meal. Normally that is not an issue but tonight the lady was wearing some pretty stinky hair pomade and, she had lots of hair. I wish the hostess would have had enough sense (of smell) to identify someone with an odor and seat them away from others. It wasn't like the place was full. Having someone with an offensive odor sitting about a foot behind you takes the pleasure out of eating.
Pleasantly surprised. Â It's been a while since I've been here, they've stepped up their game. Â Sunday brunch was very tasty, and the kids enjoyed it as well. Â One complaint is that they have alcoholic drinks intermingled with the menu, add to that the enticing names like "tropical berry blast' (or whatever it was) and you will no doubt run into the same issue I had, my 10 year old girls ordered, and almost received, alcohol! Â quick thinking on the waitress prevented the accident. Â she too was unaware that they were alcoholic drinks, it wasn't until she put it in the machine and the machine placed the order 'at the bar' that it was brought to attention.
I know the waitress should have "known the menu" but I also blame Ruby Tuesday's for this fowl-up, alcohol should be kept on a separate drink menu, clearly defined. once I was told it was alcohol, I went back and still took me a second to notice that it was in fact labeled alcohol. Â I just don't feel it was clear enough, and should not be on the menu that kids are reading.
I was visiting my parents recently in Va. , and they mentioned that they had been to Ruby Tuesday's a few times recently and that I should give it a try since they had made a lot of changes to their menu. Â I was a bit skeptical, since I kind of think these chains are all the same that are similar (Ruby Tuesday's, Applebees, Chillis, T.G.I Friday's), and I had been to a R.T's years ago and I wasn't very impressed back then, but I was hungry and the folks were paying so I was game.
The menu is expansive and they offer unique items which looked good such as lobster mac and cheese, shrimp fondue, tilapia with salsa topping and the item I ordered mediterranean shrimp with linguini pasta. The dish was very creamy, was priced right at $10.95 and was filling. I thought the shrimp in the dish were quite small, and it would have been nice if some side items were included (they weren't). They did bring out some cheddar biscuits, but it wasn't until after we had almost devoured our meals half way and this is something that should be brought out first.
Our server must have been new, because he seemed hesitant when asked by my mother if an item was still available, was slow in re-filling our drinks and in bringing out the biscuits (although he did say they were out and had to make more, I guess they weren't expecting customers to come in that late. It was 8:00 and they closed at 10:00).
Overall, not a bad experience, but not a great and memorable one either. Chain restaurants are chains and they won't give you a unique culinary experience like a one of a kind restaurant will (read:formulaic). Having said that, I think Ruby Tuesday does offer some innovative items at good prices, that other similar chains don't have, and they will satisfy your hunger.
So I do the 'To-Go' thing every so often either when I'm too busy to
dine inside or when I'd rather just kick back at home with some good
TV. Ruby Tuesday is a nice safe bet for carry out since the service is
relatively fast and always accurate. You can just pick a place to park
and the next thing you know a server is bringing your dinner right to
the car window - a definite win for laziness.
There are a few menu items I really enjoy such as the mushroom Swiss burger and the mild chicken wings. Ruby Tuesday does a good job of varying the menu so there is no shortage of things to pick from.
Definitely a good choice for Traditional American cuisine.
i am officially a huge fan of ruby tuesday! Â i live in san diego and i continually see ruby tuesday commercials but didn't know where the nearest one was located. Â While visiting the east coast I noticed they were everywhere. Â I went twice during my trip. Â Everything was delicious. Â I wish they would open more locations in San Diego. Â The nearest one is a hour away which is inconvenient. Â I got the lobster ravioli and it was so good. Â I think the seafood on the east coast is really good. Â Please please open more locations. Â The commercials are so tempting. Â It makes me want to drive far just for food.
