I have been to both this location and the downtown location several times.  This is definitely one of my favorite steakhouses in St. Louis.  The downtown location is nice, but the Clayton location seems a bit more upscale.  While everything is a la carte, the portions are large.  My wife and I usually split a salad, each get a steak, split one side, which ends up being plenty of food.  If we have enough room left we'll split a dessert, which are massive as well.  My wife likes the carrot cake, which is big enough to feed a family of four.  I've seen people get several sides along with their meal, but most people end up taking those home for lunch or dinner the next day, which isn't a bad thing by any means.  Overall, the flavor and the portions of food you get at Ruth's Chris are tough to beat.  I would highly recommend this place to all of the steak lovers who haven't experienced Ruth's before.

This was first time at Ruth's Chris. I am an avid steak lover but I usually avoid chain restaurants.  Although I am a fan of Capital Grille or Delfriscos, Ruth Chris was a sore disappointment.  I was out with a group of six guys.  I usually order NY strip medium rare.  Sadly, four out of the six steaks ordered were over cooked.  It didn't help that the overcooked steaks came out on a hot plate which further cooked the meat.  Maybe it was the overcooked meat but the quality of the meat was by far the poorest quality meat I've had for a $40+ steak.  It tasted like USDA choice steak you would buy at Schnucks.  You go to nice steak restaurants for aged steaks that are beyond USDA prime quality, and that's certainly not what we got at this chain steakhouse.

Went back here a few times, definitely feel like it's improved. Or maybe the service has improved. I don't know!

I usually go for happy hour. I think it's 4pm - 6pm Monday through Thursday, and if you go Friday, it's all day happy hour. I got the Filet Oscar again which is fantastic! Tiny amount of meat but I really cannot stomach to eat their full-size filet without becoming ill afterwards from all of the rich butter and so forth...so the small one is ideal for me.
Also tried the carpaccio which my friend ordered. Loved it! So awesome. I was really impressed in general with their food offerings at the Yelp event here last year on the patio. Drinks were great too, and lately I tried something with creme de cacao white  chocolate vodka, whipping cream, and fudge. It was fantastic! Both Dominique and Yens are great bartenders. They make really tasty drinks. Yens is fun to talk to, haha.

I would definitely go back but only for the happy hr prices.
