I occasionally drive 30 miles to Sal's just for the amazing pizza. Â I'm not sure what makes theirs different, but it's probably the sauce. Â What else would distinguish one restaurant's pizza from another's? Â Also, they offer the option of either a thick crust or thin. Â The calzones are HUGE - enough for two hungry people. Â The pasta dishes I've tried are also good. Â The staff are not the best in the world, usually college age kids with considerable turnover, but the food is good and certainly better than any chain I've ever dined at. Â Delicioso!
Review Source:2nd time going to this place was Valentine's night. We walk in, the waitress turns around makes eye contact and then ignores us.......for 15 min as we are still standing at the door waiting for someone to acknowledge us. The 2 tables empty were dirty. I walked up and asked the cashier if someone could clear the table so we could sit down. She and the waitress said rudely "We will get to it in about 10-15 min". I said, "well that would have been nice if someone let us know that, we've been standing at the door for 15 min". They answered back again rudely 'Well, it's just the 2 of us here and the cooks in the back."
As we continued to stand at the door, we noticed ALL of the tables of people with NO food on them and all of the not so happy looks on other patrons faces. Several people were just throwing their food in to go containers and leaving....they were NOT happy. 1 waitress was supposed to be taking care of the ENTIRE restaurant. People were walking in to order to go food....and ended up just walking out. Several people at a table near the front door stood up and left...telling us that they had been there for quite some time and never even had their drink orders taken. Another couple near us said they had been sitting there for an HOUR and just then got their food. (It was only 6:20pm)
What was ridiculous was that they had a Valentines Day menu on the tables (which wasn't cheap) but yet they had NO staff to facilitate the menu. How romantic right? NOT! The final straw was when another couple walked in after us.....and after another 10 min sat down at a cleared table.....and the waitress proceeded to take their drink order and continued to ignore us even though we had now been waiting for 25 min. RUDE RUDE RUDE can not even begin to describe this horrible restaurant. What kind of owner doesnt know whats going on at their business and doesnt bother to have come in and made sure his/her restaurant wasn't falling apart.....they lost a ton of business last night from people walking out.....including us and all the people who will never go back.....including us. This place deserves to go out of business.
Service was friendly and the chef even came out to see how everything was. Baked ziti had a great meat sauce that seemed to include Italian sausage and ground beef. Â All of their dressings are homemade and the serving sizes are gigantic. Definitely worth going to if you're in the mood for reasonably priced Italian food
