After winning $150 at the casino, I decided to treat my bf out to dinner! We were planning on not spending much money out in Palm Springs, but..hey, gotta celebrate! :p

We walked down DT PS, and we stumbled across this place. The food on the menu looked intriguing!

We went in when they were almost closing, but we were able to dine in. The hostess lead us to a nice dining area, and said that we could sit anywhere..the couches are filled with COMFY pillows! :D I was like, "I want the corner!" Haha..but it was just super comfy and relaxing to sit in there. I was laying back.

Their service was quick, and the waiters/waitresses were all very nice. Probably because we ended up being the last customers as well lol. They had some live music going on, and it was very soothing.

    My meal:Ravioli Pomodoro
Filled with ricotta cheese and spinach in a tomato-basil sauce $16
-I asked if they would be able to switch the tomato-basil sauce to a cream sauce, and it was not a problem! It was pretty delicious, and extra creamy. MM!

    Bf's meal:Sausage & Peppers
Mild Italian sausage with bell peppers, onions and marinara sauce $16
-His was pretty yummy! A good spice to it.

The food came out fairly quickly as well.

For the bread that they give you, it comes with this olive spread. No gusta.

Also, they charged me $2 for switching to Alfredo sauce. -__- I wish they could've told me beforehand.

Great Food, Great Service, and Fun Atmosphere!! The staff are extremely nice and very prompt. The food is excellent and put together perfectly. Great presentation, amazing flavors.. everything!
Great selection of dishes to choose from. We had the calamari which was perfect and I enjoyed the lasagna which I could not stop eating!!!!
This is my second visit (once lunch and once for dinner) and is definitely my place to bring guests!

In town on a little get away.  There on a Thur night during the weekly street fair.  This is a great little place tucked back off the street so not so crowded.  9PM walk in on a holiday weekend, 4th of July, and were seated right away.

To start with we had great service, I do not remember our waiter's name but he was a very nice gentleman and too great care of us.

My companion and I shared a nice little bottle of Mascoto, $24 I think, a decent price and good flavor to go with my Grilled Prawns and my companion's Chicken Picata.  Both dishes were quite delicious and served with very flavorful roasted potatoes and grilles asparagus. (notes to management here, could have used a few more potatoes on the plate and some of the asparagus did not have the woody ends trimmed)

Ambiance was very nice, we were always taken care of at our tale but not overly interrupted.  Our waiter was there just when needed and not any other time.  Don't quite understand how he always got the timing right there.

Ok, a couple of things that could bring this up to a 5-star experience... Cesar salad was nice and a good portion size but the dressing could use a little more zing.  The cheesecake was good, but seemed store bought and again could use a bit more tang to it.  Lastly, the pricing was just a little steep, but that may be a result of high rents in the area, though with many empty store fronts on the main drag in Palm Springs this should be negotiable.

Overall, next time I am in Palm Springs I would definitely return....maybe try happy hour in their nice looking bar area.

Go, have fun, enjoy the good food and great service.

Went to Sammy's G for Happy Hour (11:30am-8:00) in the bar (several TV's) and had a great time.  Robert the bartender was excellent and very attentive.  We started with the calamari ($5) that was light and fluffy (would order again). My Son order the steak, salad, fries that was $15 for happy hour and it looked much larger than 8oz. and was cooked to perfection.   I had the meatball, artichoke, an onion pizza that was delicious for $10.  Beer runs $3-$5 during happy hour and they have specials on well drinks and wine.

A really good choice for downtown Palm Springs dining.  My Pasta Carbonara with Chicken was superb, and our dining companions really knew what wine to order.  My other half enjoyed a really good classic Caesar's salad.  I didn't get to taste what others in our party were having, but by the looks of the clean plates, they really enjoyed it too.  Large outdoor patio seating area, as well as a couple of inside dining options.  Ask to be seated away from the bar area if don't like energetic music.  Excellent wait staff.  We'll be back.

I love this place and I am becoming a regular on  weekends lol.
I am in my 40's and there isn't a lot of straight places to go that have live music and a great mix of all ages. Some places the crowds are too young, some too old.
The house band is great and they take requests. The dance floor is always packed.
I usually get there early so I can get a seat at the bar, have a little dinner, then enjoy my night listening to the band and dancing.
Shannon and I think her name is Melinda the bartenders are great!
The food is good, I have gotten, chicken Marsala, mushroom ravioli and the chopped salad all were very good. Their pizza is ok, but being from Boston, I am very fussy about my pizza.

This is just a fun place to go and I recommend it.

Pretty good Italian food and service.  I would recommend the green pesto gnocchi.

Came here for a friend's birthday and the waiter was super nice. The food took a while but he was apologetic and we had bread, drinks and antipasto to keep us occupied. I ordred the Sangria which was nice and my friends had wine.  Food came and it was yummy. They also brought out a tiramisu for my friend, which was nice.

Our second trip to this restaurant found us as pleased as our first.  Our first visit was in the spring for lunch and the restaurant enjoyed quite a crowd.  This visit was in June escaping 108° temperature.  The hostess and Sal the manager greeted us warmly, And I lamented they no longer had gnocchi on their lunch menu, the manager quickly offered to make me gnocchi, becoming my hero!  Our waiter Sergio, promptly and efficiently  accommodated all of our requests ( we are a bit precise some call it picky in our desires) and offered wonderful advice on the menu.  Our meal started with Two glasses of happy hour wine a quite good vintage and hey happy hour starts at 11:30 how amazing is that? Their bread and house made dip are to die for and they served the bread warm, The only way to serve a Tuscan sourdough.  I heartily recommend the buffalo wings, they have a slight Italian flair to the house made buffalo sauce, amazing!  I ordered the gnocchi in a vodka tomato cream  sauce it arrived wonderfully resembling a Roman style gnocchi.   My partner ordered his favorite, the skirt steak salad, a dish no longer on the menu but they wonderfully accommodated his desire, going so far as to make it with fillet mignon as they no longer have skirt steak.  Give Sammy G's a try, I believe you will enjoy a great meal!

Winning! I've been here several times and this place has always been so fun! The band is awesome and plays great dance music, the atmosphere is spot on, the crowd is always fun and playful, the service has been outstanding. I actually was here a half dozen times just for drinks and dancing etc...but never ordered food. Big mistake. The food is outstanding. It's not your usual buzz kill bar food. It's full on fresh quality. The staff is excellent and the bartenders and fantastic. Kudos to Sammy G's !

The best Italian food i have ever eaten in United States!. It was like eating in Italy. We had Antipasto, clams and mussels linguine, pizza, and everything was delicious.
I will come back for sure, every time I come in Palm Springs.

While walking up and down Palm Canyon Drive trying to decide on a place for dinner, I spotted this restaurant through the Vineyard archway. After we checked out the menu, we decided that we'd give it a try, especially as it still had outdoor seating, and the night was particularly warm.

I have to say that the atmosphere was very sophisticated and intimate. I enjoyed the setup of the outdoor seating and the inside of the restaurant also looked very elegant. However, service was a little lacking. It took a little long for our waiter to come by and ask if we wanted anything to drink. And he seemed very rushed.

The food was alright; I was a little blown away by how olive-y the pesto on my pizza was, and my companion was pretty disappointed when the steak he wanted wasn't actually available. The caprese salad was quite good however.

I might give this place another go.

    Dinner, drinks, and dancing!

Fun atmosphere with a lot of friendly people. We ordered a couple of honey bourbon cocktails, aptly named BnM, and boy, was it delicious! Definitely a new fav drink now. The food was good - ordered Sausage and Peppers pasta (YUM!), the NY steak (off the happy hour menu $15!!!), a salad (not sure what it was). Everyone was satisfied. Service could have been better, but I can't blame them for being super busy. Our waitress was super nice about it. Also, the live music was great! We got to hear the Evaro Brothers play and they were very good; a lot of fun and a wide range of music played. I suspect when we're in the area, this will be a place we will frequent again.

Went here with my family for an event held in the bar area. Great place to hang with friends.! Outside patio in the back, ample tables and bar seating in the bar. Food was  good, the drinks were cold and tasty. There is a parking lot in the back and a lot of street parking. It looks like there is Valet sometimes based on the signage. The people were very nice. They also have a little stage where I imagine they have live entertainment sometimes. We had a buffet and being vegetarian I didn't eat much. Those that did liked it, but were not blown away. I sat on a nail on one of the bar stools, they were very quick to whisk the chair away. Trust me if there is one nail in one chair in a sea of chairs I will find it! They took care of it and that is what is important. I will give the restaurant a try and report back on the regular food next time I am in Palm Springs.

I've always enjoyed the food, cocktails and service at Sammy's even when we dined there on a Thursday night during VillageFest Street Fair in high season. Every table was packed (including the patio) but our waiter was attentive and the food arrived promptly.  I enjoy the warm bread, the large(ish) salad and both the alfredo and the carbonara.  I've had good fish there as well. Drinks are well made, wine list was good. Prices seem reasonable for the portions. The decor is bit 90's (oversized white banquettes, warm beige walls of rough venetian plaster with drift wood arrangements) but overall a good place I would recommend.

We are locals who work in the industry and refer quite a bit of clientele to this establishment.  We wanted to celebrate a very special occasion and reserved the patio area for our small gathering (11 people) . Initially, we agreed upon a preset price limit of no more than $150.00 with the manager Julian because we were only 8 ordering appetizers, and that Soft Drinks and Iced Tea would be included.

I was thoroughly embarrassed when the servers kept demanding for our friends to pay for each drink before it was made, as they were not allowed to run a tab, in fact, one of my friends got her card flagged for fraud because they had run her card 6 times. But alas, above are not my cheif complaints.....This is only where the show starts.......

I was appalled that even though soda and iced tea were to be free, the servers kept presenting checks to my guests for each soda or tea they drank-I didn't realize that until they presented me with a check for 1 iced tea with 3 refills and I had to inform the server that it was to be of no charge as it was included in the negotiated package. I said that the other guests should not have paid either, I was told too bad, we don't give refunds. THEN I was shocked to find out that the ONE cocktail I had was paid for by 4 different people!

The biggest insult was when I called for the close out of the check (of which I had  $250.00 in cash to cover the cost & tips etc.) that I was presented with a bill for $691.53 ! I FLIPPED MY LID! How the heak does that happen?!!? We had 3 Calamari, 3 Bruschetta, and 2 Antipasto Plates! I asked to see an itemized bill because there was NO WAY I was going to pay that ! Especially when we had a prengotiated price. even with the 18% gratuity- it would have made the appetizers over $65.00 each!

After arguing and being strong armed,  we came to a mutually agreed price - Which was by the way OVER $250.00 I was completely disgusted by their bait & switch business practices. If they are willing to do this to local people who send them business- I can only imagine what they pull on tourists.  I am very disappointed by their horrible business practices, and can only warn others not to frequent this place. Wolf in Sheeps Clothing Consumer Beware!

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT.   Had dinner with 5 other friends.  It took them 1 hour to bring our main course after our salads.  They had multiple excuses--all baloney.  One they arrived, they ranged from cold to luke warm.  My entree was their special--seafood ravioli--6 small ravioli surrounding one shrimp, all for $32.  The owner came over, said he was sorry, but this happens occasionally.  Totally  unacceptable.

It makes me so sad to write this two star review. Not sure where to start. We had a dinner party there with 75+ people and the food didn't come out until nearly 45 minutes after the salad. When it did come, the steak was cold and tough like shoe leather. Ate as much as the steak as possible only to find a small hair on the dinner plate. It was about 1/2" long and curved, like a chest hair. Are the chefs cooking shirtless back there or what? We tried to find our server to point this out, but the plate was swooped away by a bus person before we could point it out.

It may not have been the server's fault, but he tried to charge us for sodas that were included with our dinner package. We did get that sorted out with the Manager and that's why I'm giving 2 stars instead of one, but I had to take time away from my party to sort this out.

I'd be willing to give this place another chance with maybe just two of us having dinner there without such a big party to serve and if it's better, I'd gladly revise this review. But I will not have another large party here. They just don't seem to have it down to a science yet.

I've been to most of the restaurants in the desert and Sammy G's has been THE WORST. Even worse than El Gallito in Cathedral City.

My magherita pizza was like a cheap Celeste frozen pizza. The other person with me ordered the wild mushroom ravioli and it had this watered down sauce. TERRIBLE!!!

Our waiter, Ulysses, sucked. The manager didn't come over. Poor service. Poor food. Cheap looking menus. Really this place is disgusting. Good for tourists that don't know any better.

Only positive was the hot hostess Amanda. Call me maybe???  : )

We went over to Zin and had dinner after paying the bill as quickly as possible and in utter disgust.

Enjoyed the vibe, feel and crowd of this place.  Band played most requests and got the people into dancing.  Drinks were well made and reasonably priced.  The veggie pizza was delicious since we got hungry and left in a good mood.

Also known as The Vineyard Tuscan Grill, our first (and only) experience was really a let down.  Making reservations by telephone was difficult.  How hard is it to take down a name, a time, the number of diners and a confirmation telephone number?  In this case it took somewhere between six and 10 minutes.

We ordered the antipasto as a starter.  A not very creative selection of deli meats and cheeses ... A very huge quantity of nibbles.  (BTW, the bread was EXCELLENT).

Entree's were mediocre.  I had Chicken Carbonara ... very bland.  My partner had the evening's Special, Chicken Cacciatore.  Made with only chicken breast fillets, the dish was only "okay" but didn't feel very special.

When the waiter asked how our Dinner had been, we hesitated a bit too long before answering.  He just rolled his eyes and nodded.

    'Nuff said.

A lot of talk and not a lot of walk. The food here was mediocre at best. The hostess should be in sales, not at the restaurant. The server we had was so sure of himself and the meals that it just failed in every way.

    1. The sangria tasted like juice.
    2. The gnocchi sauced tasted like chef boyardee.
    3. The pizza dough wasn't kneaded enough and it was not crusty, just chewy.
    4. The risotto looked like yellow saffron rice and I'm not even sure it was arborio or carnaroli.
    5. POWDERED PARMESAN... Need I say more.

So sad because it looked like a pretty good happening spot, but alas my italian food at home is more italian than the fare they serve here and they didn't have italian soda!

I just can't fathom how people can enjoy this place, but then again a lot of people don't know italian food.

My wife and I were in Palm Springs a few days ago and wanted to go somewhere new for dinner. We go to Palm Springs several times a year and have tried lots of different restaurants. This time we happened to park near Sammy G.'s and basically accidentally walked into their courtyard. We looked at the posted menu and decided to give it a try. That turned out to be a great decision!

We sat on an outside patio and enjoyed the fresh air and surroundings. The service was excellent from beginning to end and we had a really enjoyable time. The food was terrific as was the wine. After we were done they brought us over two glasses of complimentary Amaretto and two biscotti. It was the perfect ending.

The next day we were deciding where to go again for dinner and couldn't resist going back to Sammy G.'s as it was the best restaurant we experienced in Palm Springs since we started going there a few years back. On our second visit they had live music, which we really enjoyed. We again sat on the patio and had a different waiter. We were not as hungry so we just ordered a pizza and split a Caesars salad (it is plenty big enough for two). Everything was just as good during the second visit and again they gave us complimentary Amaretto and biscotti to finish the night off.

Sammy G.'s is our new "go to" place in Palm Springs. We are looking forward to our next visit just to go there.

I wish I could give this more stars, because the ambiance was nice, but our server was Terrrrrible, and he really made our visit less than stellar.
Food was ok, and drinks strong, but all in all it was just a blah experience.
Bummer we wasted our only night in PS at this place...

This is a hidden gem in Palm Springs. Because it is set back from Palm Canyon, it is not as overrun with tourists as some of the other restaurants.  I have eaten dinner in the dining room and had happy hour in the bar. I have had an outstanding experience each time. The food is authentic italian and I love both their pizzas and pastas.

This past Sunday I turned to my trusted Happy Hour App. and discovered that they have daily happy hour until 8 pm. You know my cheap, but fancy ways - we jumped in the car and headed over. The bar is lovely and they have an extensive HH menu with enormous portions.  We had the calamari for $5 (best I have ever had - yes, seriously the best) which comes with an addictive marinara dipping sauce that I am convinced contains crack. I wanted to pick up the bowl and drink it.

We also tried their blackened chicken sliders on ciabatta bread ($6) - delicious (they are actually quite substantial and are bigger than traditional sliders) and a killer thin crust margherita pizza (it was a nice size - we took half of it home).

We each had a Shock Top ($3) and a glass of the house Pinot Grigio (huge pour for $4). They also have a nice assortment of happy hour cocktails. The bartender is fantastic. We will definitely put this on our regular happy hour rotation and can't wait to go back.

These people can't cook a steak.  I ordered a medium rare filet - the first one came out medium well.  I sent it back and had to wait until the rest of my party was finished with their meal prior to getting the second steak - it was RAW and the sides were cold and slimy.  They did give me a free glass of wine.  Horrible - never going back.  Good service, though.

I believe on Friday and Saturday nights they have a live band in the evening and it can get pretty lively in there. If your in town come check it out!!!!

After deciding that an hour wait for Los Casuelas Terraza was not worth it, we walked across the street to Sammy G's.
Their hostess staff was friendly and said that they had availability.
Their patio looked enjoyable and inviting, so we decided to give it a try.
The hostess told us how to "enter" to the next hostess stand, which was quite strange that the first hostess stand coudn't seat us nor could they escort us to the 2nd stop in our tour, but oh well.  We were still ready to sit down, have a glass of wine and enjoy our dining experience.
The hostess at the second station looked at us a little suprised when we arrived, as if the two hostess stands were not communicating.
We were seated.  Our server was nice.  We ordred wine and it arrived quickly.  The bread on the other hand, took about 15 minutes and was served with black olive tapanade which tasted like black olives and not kalmatta - thumbs down for that.
We asked a few questions about some of the menu items, and were then ready to order.
One asked for dressing on the side / salad dry.  When the salads arrived, her's was dripping in salad dressing, so she sent it back.  A dry one arrived a few minutes later.
The other salads were just ok - nothing special.
When the entrees arrived, two things were not right:
1 - my sister ordered alfredo with shrimp (paid the up-charge for shrimp) and the pasta dish was presented with ONE shrimp - just one
2 - I ordered the eggplant parmesean - it arrived luke warm around the edges and cold in the center so I sent it back and asked them to heat it up.  A new slice arrived about 10 minutes later after the rest of our group had almost finished their dinner.  And the 2nd time arrived luke warm again.  By then, I didn't care, so I ate part of it and was done.
We had at least 4 differnet people serving our table, which led to confusion as to who to ask for what and who was going to deliver it.
The owner, classic Palm Springs mafia looking guy, was entertaining some locals and having a good-ole-time.
This place needs Gordon Ramsay to come in and tape an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.  Or send Tabatha in to kick the owners butt to make him aware of his failing restaurant.
Sammy G's is a waste of time and money.
I will not go back - ever.

How have I missed this place?  This was the weekend, that I convinced myself to explore....find something new, delicious, and thought provoking.  Yes food is good for provocative thought.  Good for the soul..  Non of my favorites....  No Nest, no Daily Grill, no Aqua Pazza...it's withdrawal... I  tried the new shi shi place, and hated it.   Perhaps I'm a little old fashioned, having been a Demi-vegan for 20 years, it's difficult to appreciate a restaurant that makes no effort to preserve our planet, and doesn't give a flying f@ck about  people who don't eat mammals.

That being said.... Sammy G's is a terrific choice.  I had the best cioppino that I've ever had.  I ordered it with natural broth.   It was wonderful.  It was filled with clams, mussels, whitefish, calamari.  I split a Caesar and loved it.

Excellent atmosphere.  Fantastic service.  Luis, our waiter, was very attentive, and made sure we had a good time.

They have a great lounge area, live music,  with dancing.... Yeah yeah... Nestlike music.   My guests were very impressed.  A good time was had by all.   Go....make it an evening with friends.

What a great fine! We were out looking for some pasta. We had our 4 year old daughter with us and she was tired after a full day of fun.  We spotted Sammy G's and thought we would at least look at the menu. The maitred spotted us outside and invited us in to look at the menu. We told him we thought it would be a bit much for our daughter since she was tired. He should us the wonderful children's menu and offered us a booth in the back where she could lie down if she got tired. He sold us and we were very pleased. The atmosphere was wonderful, live music with a singer that came and sang to our daughter, great food and portion size.

I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and my husband had the house lasagna.  We shared a Ceasar salad. Our daughter loved her spaghetti and meatball. We look forward to visiting Sammy G's on our next visit to Palm Springs.

It's been a while since we've been here so we were surprised to see the renovations that have taken place.  It looks great and the outdoor patio is huge compared to what it used to be.  There was live music when we stopped by this last time and people dancing all over the place.

We made it to the bar and ordered a vodka/7 and a Miller Lite.  $12.50  HUH?  Well vodka and a domestic bottle...we are in Palm Springs, not NYC.  What looked like a manager was walking by and we asked him why these two drinks were so much.  He didn't know the pricing but said he would be right back.  He comes back with 7.50 for well (I believe the well vodka was Barton or another generic, not Skky or Svedka or Smirnoff) and $4 for the Miller Lite.  Thanks...That's $11.50.  Oh well, live and learn, right?

The place was busy and the music was great.  The patio had dirty glasses everywhere and every ashtray was overflowing.  It's hard for me to sit and not pick them up myself.  There were 3 employees behind the bar and not that much business at the bar.  Only one of the 3 seemed to be actually bartending.  Maybe one, or two, of those employees could have cleaned up the patio.

We might be back to try the happy hour as I read it's pretty good...We'll see.
