What a treat! Just what we were hoping to find - some GOOD authentic mexican food. And - clean, clean, clean! Artwork on the walls is pleasantly strange. Employees were very friendly and didn't stare at us as though were extraterrestrials (they do that in some small towns if you're an unfamiliar face). The salsa was so good we had to buy a container to take along (the secret, they said, is all roasted ingredients. Awesome. Try it!
Review Source:The San Ardo Cafe is the only place to eat when visiting San Ardo. Literately. That said, don't let their monopoly keep you from discovering what international travelers already know. This joint's got good food.
I was in there a couple of weeks ago (May 2008), and found a group of young Germans enjoying the fare. If you're looking for something fancy, forget it, but if you want good food served fresh and want to see what 99% of Hwy 101 travelers miss, stop in for lunch. It's barely a mile, (if that much), off the freeway, right next to the truck repair joint and the post office. Try the tacos. Try the cheese burgers. Try the special. Leave with a smiling pie hole. Open Monday thru Saturday, 6am to 4pm. In the spring, open Sunday (asparagus picking season).
