Sanders Country Kitchen

Finding this great out-of-the-way restaurant known to its locals as the place to go for catfish, grilled or fried. Sanders Country Kitchen is in the small town, Mangham, La., just south of Rayville, La.

Their catfish is excellent. They serve all the side dishes associated with Southern cuisine: Hush puppies, to name one. They have a fine Sweet Tea, which I tried for the first time.

Don't come here if you're looking for a fancy place and over-the-top atmosphere. Sanders is down-to-earth. They serve to large crowds, though we were very lucky to catch them on a quiet late morning before the lunch crowd showed up.

They are open seven days a week. If you love catfish, you're all set. Plus, the staff and other patrons are friendly. It could be our north Midwestern accents that caught their curiosity.
