I live in the area .This place is slowly coming back to what it was 20 years ago. The chef is doing a great job ,but German food is limited , he does do GREAT BBQ. They are now doing prime rib on Fridays. They also have bands every now and again. Word of caution ,,they have a very limited menu this time of year,(after Sept.) except Thurs. thru Sunday. Views are great  , servers the same
Review Source:We used to come here once a summer when it was German fare and it was always good. Come last night and not so much. Sat outside and while she was nice, our server was totally overwhelmed. Took a couple tries to get out table wiped off, 20 minutes for the first set of drinks and 3 times asking her for the second set. The food was OK. It is very nice sitting outside but on a Saturday night during fair season, they should have more help.
Review Source:This past Saturday it was so beautiful outside my girlfriend and I decided to go for a drive. I wanted to go somewhere new that I hadn't been to have a beer and enjoy the weather overlooking some body of water. I remembered my parents taking me to a real cool German place on Warners lake when I was younger and figured we'd go check it out to see if it were still there without any googling or real knowledge if it still existed. Sure enough, we found you. It was pretty early on Saturday, a little after one. We walked in and started to chat with your bartender, a nice young lady. She informed us that you guys just re-opened and that it was the grand opening celebration. She was really friendly and told me about the space and changes that already happened / in the works. We sat out on the deck to enjoy the beautiful view / day. Our server was very kind and attentive giving us just the right amount of attention as we really only came in for drinks. With the smoker cranking, its hard to sit there and not want to get some bbq. Sure enough, I went for some smoked wings. The smoked flavor was very good, the size of the wings was nice. I really enjoyed the pairing for both blue and bbq sauce on the plate. I watched the smoker a bit and saw a beautiful brisket being smoked, really wanted to try it, but was already full. We had a wonderful time and our server was great.
Review Source:I was reminded of growing up on a lake north of New York City and the place looked the same as our house, dated with knotty pine. Â The lake view set back and above the water. Â We sat inside, yet the voices of a couple twenty feet away on the terrace dominated the quiet where we were. Â Yes, we could have moved. Â Not anyone's fault.
There were 3, yes 3 German beers. The sauerbratten was way under seasoned with vinegar and the red cabbage had too much snap for my friend. Â (still short on vinegar). Â The gravy was flat, the potato pancakes were too fluffy and the rolls puffy Peppridge Farms.
I like it. Â No, it wasn't German. Â Yes, I'd eat there again.
My friend liked the waitress and she was friendly, helpful and courteous. Â
$105 with tip.
Great place if you are out in East Berne and need to get some beer. It sits right on Warner Lake and has a lovely view.
The outside is all bavaria with cartoons of Germans in lederhosen. The inside strives to be an upscale eating establishment with $20+ entrees and three course meals.
We ended up with french onion soup with beer and potato pancakes. Comfort food on a rainy fall day.
Service was uncomfortably formal but attentive and pleasant.
