I served my pre-doctoral internship at the federal prison nearby. On occasion, the 2 other interns & I would make a break for it and have lunch at "The Shady". It is a no frills kind of place that serves decent if simple food consistently and with a mind to time. Don't want to be late getting back to prison...
The staff is comprised of kind and sweet people who get to know you, and your order, quickly. I no longer work at the FCC and live too far away to just drop in but if you're in the area I recommend you give it a try.
You really have to search hard to find this place. Â Small cafe located inside the pro shop (golf club) of a tiny RV resort off of I75 in Sumter County. Â I eat here about 1-2 times per year when I have business at the Federal prison complex nearby. Â Always friendly service. Â This is SMALL and NO FRILLS but a nice sandwich/salad is always served to me with a smile.
