This is my favorite restaurant in the area immediately surrounding Berrien Springs. I don't go here every day but I do go a couple of times a week. I love the open layout of the restaurant and most of the people there really take care of us. I usually go when I'm looking for an unhurried break between classes and it's usually quiet enough in the restaurant that I can read without distraction. It's not always the fastest place to eat but it's usually the most relaxing place to eat in the area. The current price on breakfast specials is $3.75. Vegetarian "meat" substitutions are usually available but cost a dollar more. I like the veggie burgers they use, which are the same as the BK veggie but they're fried instead of grilled. They currently have a regular rotation of lunch and dinner specials and have all you can eat fish on Friday and all you can eat pancakes on the weekend. Shemmy's offers a decent selection of ice cream, a bargain priced driving range and putt-putt course, and a room is available for meetings or catered events. The events I've been to have been for 20-40 people and we've had an enjoyable time by being able to include food, ice cream, and the driving range. Seasonally they also have an antique/consignment store called Hillbilly's Bargain Barn (call for hours).
Review Source:Shemmy's serves as a much needed escape from the fast paced, hustle and bustle of Berrien Springs. Â 3 dollar breakfasts combined with the on-site driving range gives you everything you could need for a weekday afternoon. Â For my visit, my waitress also served me my bucket of balls. Â The 7 dollar medium bucket was as big as a large at most other ranges and the large. . .well you know the 5 gallon buckets from the hardware store? Your arm will probably fall off before you finish one of those on your own. Â The grass on the range is a bit weedy and muddy but who cares? Â You're not supposed to be out there anyway, you'll get beaned in the head.
