Shifty's

This is indeed as good as it gets as far as a bar in Menard. Well, partly because this is the ONLY bar in the city. There used to be two bars but one closed so now there is just Shiftys. I had a really good time here last weekend. This bar does not serve liquor. They only sell beer and sodas. However, you can bring your own liquor! That is what I am talking about! The bartender/owner will give you ice, limes, sodas, or whatever else you need to go with your booze. They have a jukebox full of the classics. When the jukebox is not playing you can feel free to turn on their karaoke system. We sang loud and proud, Texas style. The only negative thing about this bar is that it has 3 cats. Yes, the bar owns 3 cats and they kind of come and go as they please. I am allergic to cats so I wasn't entirely excited about this. But, when you are visiting Menard, you will quickly notice that loose cats and dogs are everywhere and you will get used to it. There is a motel behind the bar that you can crash at if you can't manage to make it down the street to whoever's house you are staying at. The bars here close at 1am so if you still want to party you are going to have to gather up a few locals and head to a backyard in the vicinity. Thanks for the good time Shiftys!
