If you are looking for a timely lunch, this is not the place. The four times I have eaten here (out of necessity, due to working on the AF base), I have waited for over 30 minutes for my entree. I waited, while everyone else at my table was served and ate. It may be because I am vegan and only eat vegetarian/vegan meals when out, and I know cooking tofu with vegetables can be a lengthy process (sarcasm). It is not like cooking meat, where you have to make sure it is the exact right temperature, you can eat both tofu and vegetables raw. So why my meal takes 40 minutes to cook is beyond me. Needless to say, it is not a good choice for those who expect to eat in a 60 minute standard lunch hour. Or if you have any dietary restrictions. I will say the food is very good when it does come. One tip for the owner would be to have lunch be a buffet. The service would improve, and they would likely get more customers who only have a 60 minute lunch period.
Review Source:Shiok has a nice atmosphere and friendly service.  The have a fairly decent size menu and Dim Sum on the weekends during lunch.  On my first visit, I ate there during the week and it took 30 minutes to prepare my food, which is too long of a wait...I don't have a lot of time to waste on my lunch break.  On my second trip, I finally tried the Dim Sum.  I was expecting the more traditional Dim Sum style with the carts of food already cooked and ready to eat, but you have to order your dishes À la carte.  I hope they expand their menu and serve: 'Baked' Char Siu Bao (they have steamed), fried Taro, Red bean Gindoi, or rice cake.  I'm really happy that there's a Chinese restaurant that finally serves Dim Sum in Mountain Home!  Once Shiok establishes a bigger customer base, and speeds up their service, I would easily give them a better rating.
Review Source:I have very high hopes for this place and am waiting for them to iron out the kinks before really "rating" this place. I've been once, love the decor, the servers and owners are great and it's just so nice to have another option in Mountain Home! I did, however, wait for about an hour to get my food. That was sorely disappointing. The server said they only have one cook and often get slammed with large groups of airmen on the lunch hour. They make everything fresh and I think they have great potential. The key (at least right now) is to order out at lunch time and plan to eat 40 minutes to an hour later.
Review Source:Finally, a decent newfound Asian Fusion restaurant in Mountain Home. If you're on your way to the Mountain Home Air Force Base, be sure to stop by! Gotta love the modern and chic decor.. good food too as I must say they are the real Chinese food deal. Most of all, it's the friendly customer service that makes you feel so warm and welcomed. Great authentic Chinese food, top notch customer service - Â what more to ask for? It may seem like a long drive on the Airbase Rd to get there but trust me, it's totally worth it!
