Shorty's Bar

After discussion, we decided that the only reason poor Shorty's is still in business is that in the small town, it's one of the few places that's just plain open in the middle of the day.

Oh where to start.

One person, in various photographs on the bar, and thus presumably the owner, skuttled around getting the work done. Several others periodically opened the fridge or ducked behind the bar for items yet went back to watching the T.V. or sitting at a table instead of waiting on customers. After ordering two basic meals from the limited menu, we finally received our food no less than thirty minutes later.

Now, I'll happily wait a half hour for independent-business burgers instead of going through a drive-through. But the food just wasn't good.

Both the fries and onion-rings were over-cooked.

The burger was a small tragedy, because we watched the beef being pressed and flipped and pressed and pressed until every bit of juice slid out and our blackened hockey-puck arrived.

We picked and poked at our lunch, and paid triple what we'd expect from that drive-through.

Furthermore, fans and air freshener really don't help mask the odor of cigarette smoke and don't exactly add to the ambiance.
