I worked in Marion for three months and during that time i formed a love of this simple and delicious dinner/bar. I worked third shift making the fact that drinks were available at 7 am very important. Every Friday night i would do my best to round up a crowd of people to head to the shovel. The Coffee is good the drinks are cold and they are more than willing to make the Bloody Marys however u want i like mine with a pickle spear. The food is typical greasy spoon fare with a few shinning gems including an omelet that was as big as my head and doused in a healthy shower of country gravy that was not overly heavy and very satisfying. they also have a shovel slam which is a great value and includes eggs, pancake or french toast, breakfast meat, toast, and hash browns that are far from greasy but are crispy and delicious.
The final verdict if u are in the area in the morning or during the day and have a hankering for some good cooking stop by and have a meal and a drink at the shovel.
