I think the cook needs to practice tempura. Everything I received was soggy like it was taken out of the frier to early. Or they let it sit to long. I didn't eat my waffle fries yuck!! In addition the manager came to me and asked if everything was good I was so upset I chose to let go and not say nothing because I would have said the food freakin sucked bad. I think the only thing that was good was the salad. Not coming here again I spent almost 70$ for crappy food. I asked the waiter at the beginning if they had lemonade he said yes I asked fresh squeezed he smile and said no. I appreciate the honesty. I asked for water with lemon.
Review Source:This is the best perk I have for working for the Schliterbahn company. Â I eat two meals a day here and have NEVER had anything I would not reccomend. The only problem with the place is the servers are all young and probably have never worked anywhere accept fast food. Â Service is kind of a back burner for them. Â But, that could be because most of my fellow construction workers don't tip very well
Review Source:We went here for drinks and an appetizer at an early 5:00pm after we were exhausted from a day at the beach and needed a pick-me-up. When we arrived at the restaurant, we didn't know if it was open. The big neon sign outside was off, but when we went in, we saw families on the back patio and we were seated in the main part of the restaurant. We ordered two Shiner's and the shrimp ceviche. The ceviche was excellent! Huge clumps of shrimp mixed with a citrus-lime base and the perfect amount of tortilla chips to go with it. ( I mean, really...not too little, not way to much. We ate our last bite of ceviche with the last chip!) However, my complaints about the place would be the girl who waited on us, who seemed a little passive aggressive towards us plus the Shiners were $4.25 a piece when we got the bill.
Review Source:The restaurant is located within the premise of the Schlitterbaun waterpark and we decided to finish the day with a great dinner here after spending a whole day at the waterpark.
I ordered the shrimp veracruz which tasted similar to a jambalaya. Â It was rich in tomatoes and onions. Â Both of my friends ordered the red snapper, one was blackened the other grilled. Â They were superb and just what I expected seafood-wise especially when you are at a beachside. Â
The view of the ocean where we seated was breath-taking. Â It was what I pictured it to be sitting at a restaurant enjoying good seafood while looking ahead at the ocean. Â
What made me gave this place 3 stars that inspite of the excellent food and the venue, the service was unsatisfactory.
Our food took at least 40 minutes to arrive without and I caught our waittress chit-chatting with her fellow employees when really she should have given us the status of our food and filled up our drinks when our glasses were more than half empty. Â And the place didn't look that busy either because there were a lot of empty tables around us.
Never underestimate good customer service, because a poor one could spoil one's experience.
I guess my experience with the Shrimp Haus is similar to others who have previously reviewed it. The service was slow and poor, especially since there were only 5 other tables with people. The wait staff seemed to mingle by themselves in a corner neglecting the customers.
I ordered the all you can eat Fried Shrimp but wish I had ordered something else. The shrimp were just okay. The ones at Louie's Backyard and at Dirty Al's are both much better!
My wife had one of the House Specials made with Shrimp in a red sauce over Rice with various fresh vegetables. She enjoyed her meal. They served her more than she could eat. She took the remainder home for lunch the next day.
Encouraged to try this by favorable reviews we read elsewhere, we eventually left feeling underwhelmed. Â Despite being only one of three tables dining in the restaurant mid afternoon, service was slow and often when looking about to try to flag down our waitress, we could see a group of about 4 or 5 waitstaff in the corner shooting the breeze.
English was not our waitress's first language, which made ordering and asking for certain items pretty much a point and gesture exercise. Â Now, she was trying, I'll grant her that - but she struggled with English.
Perhaps one of our mistakes was not partaking of one of the two pages of specialty shrimp items on the menu, but we were hungry and had been given a coupon by the hotel for the all-you-can-eat fried shrimp for $12.95/person so we tried that. Â It was at times greasy and flavorless. Â To add insult to injury, the restaurant then denied our coupon, pointing out microscopic text on the bottom which said "not valid on holidays," and declaring that Mother's Day (May 9th, 2010, the date of our visit) as a holiday that invalidated our coupon. Â
We ended up paying full price for the dinners, which amounted to an additional $2 a person. Â I wonder if the additional $4 they made on us that day was really worth it to them... they certainly won't get any glowing reviews from me, if for no other reason than being cheapskates about the fine print.
Order the pecan-crusted chicken!  It's delicious.  Comes with fresh cooked green beans and carrots, plus rice.  The salad bar is included with the entrées.  Other entrées we tried were shrimp scampi (bland) and  shrimp alfredo (good).  The service was good.  Prices are fair.  'Chuck and Leslie' are there several nights a week to provide music/singing.  Dancing is encouraged!  The down side is that the music is too loud for table conversation.
The WInter Texan crowd tends to eat and stay for the show, so you may have to wait to get a table.
It's a scenic walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. Â Once you get to the building there's an elevator if you don't want to take the stairs.
