Shucker's Oyster Bar

Use to love this place. What happened? The staff is rude and not attentive to customers needs. The food and service get worse every time we go there. The flavor and seasoning is inconsistent so never know what you will end up with.  Every time we go we swear we will never return. Today we were lured in with .25 oysters. They were terrible. We arrived at noon, well before the Sunday crowds pour in, and it took forever to even get a server to our table.  10 minutes before someone came to our table. Let me reiterate that they were not busy. The only other time we saw our server was when I ran her down to ask for refills on drinks and again when we asked for our bill.  We were not given condiments for our food and our order was incorrect. This was the smallest tip I have ever left a server and I did not feel the least bit bad. My wife is a former server so we normally pride ourselves on tipping well. Not today though. I guess it's a good place for regulars to get drunk, other than that the place is garbage.

Shucker's is always a touch on the dirty, nasty side when I have been there.  It's just one of those places that never seems very clean, so it is a little off-putting when you first come in the door.

However, they have some good bands playing on a regular basis, and the food is surprisingly good.  My wife had the char-grilled oysters, and she said they were delicious.  I had a blackened, blue cheese burger that was very good.

Shucker's was on our list of places to try last weekend while in Mississippi. As soon as we walked up onto the large spacious patio and saw two men setting up their guitars we knew we were in for a good afternoon.

Our waitress was a sweet southern belle and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. We ordered half a dozen raw oysters followed by the sampler of various oysters cooked in various ways.

All of the food tasted delicious except for one BIG no-no. There was shell in more than half of the oysters that I was served. I understand that it happens from time to time, however if it happened more than half the time it's time to hire a new shucker. It was extremely disappointing.

The atmosphere and service was great, the oyster shucker needs to be fired.
