  The sweetest bowling alley on Earth. I would call Sky Top retro, but it's not trying to be old. It's just never changed.
  
  On a recent Saturday night, the place was packed, mostly with families, but also with a few young-ish groups and one lane that seemed to be inhabited by bearded bikers. During the week, it's pretty busy with various leagues.
  
  Everything is very well maintained, and the staff are helpful and even chatty--especially for this neck of the woods. They'll obligingly set up gutter bumpers for kids (or just for so-so bowlers; be honest) and exchange your shoes as many times as you require. The cashier spent some time explaining how the lanes had recently undergone their annual refinishing. Boy, were they slick.
  
  You're not going to get much less expensive for an night out with friends. And if you need more practice, you can rent a lane all to yourself ($20 for two hours) and have at it.
  
  I have never seen anyone eating here, but I did make a wonderful beverage discovery: vanilla soda. The lady at the counter said only that it was "a real '50s thing," and it was delicious. She even gave me the recipe as she made ours: vanilla syrup, a shot of seltzer, and milk. The perfect beverage to go with your old-school night out.
