You may ask yourself does a town of 1,500 people really need two bars and the answer is YES! Â I and a friend from high school decided to check out the new bar in town after Main Street in Cedar Falls was super busy. Â I'm so glad that we did stop here as it is not your typical town dive bar.
Back in the day, when we were in high school, this building use to the be the town grocery store. Â Upon entering, the way that the owners had the the bar set up, I could never picture this place being a grocery store. Â The bar area had nice granite top with a stone base and on the back wall there was 3 TVs with a screen where you can project the big game like the Superbowl. Â Behind the actual bar there was additional high top island as well as booths and tables to choose from. Â
I did see that some people had ordered food which seemed to be what you would find on a typical sports bar menu and the kitchen was open to about 11pm or a little after. Â After the kitchen closes, you can order pizza until bar close. Â A couple people at the bar did order pizza and the pizza looked delicious, a step above your average bar pizza. Â
I was really impressed with the bartender Ruthie. Â She was taking care of customers at the bar and serving the surrounding tables but managed to provide great service quickly. Â There was another server (she had dark hair) present but I have no idea why she was there as she just seemed to stand around talking rather than helping out serve tables.
Best of all, you get Cedar Falls style bar with great service while still being affordable. Â My total tab for 4 Sevens & Sevens and 4 shots with a $5 tip was $33. Â Heck yeah! Â In the Twin Cities, that tap would have been about twice that amount. Â
Overall, I'll be back when I'm home again and hopefully, I can try the food at that time. Â I'm excited for have such a great bar to go to without having to go all the way to Cedar Falls.
