Smokeys oh Smokeys. Â I have spent way too much time bellied up to your bar. Â If you're in this neck of the woods, this is pretty much it for a social environment.
During the day, you'll find an older crowd in here, just hanging out as if they've known each other for years. Â That's probably because they have known each other for years. Â The food is quite affordable, and there's a wide enough variety that you won't get bored. Â As far as quality goes...well, it's acceptable. Â It's labeled as a BBQ place, but it's more like a pub that just happens to have BBQ. Â The pulled-pork is juicy and tender. Â If you want to stuff yourself for cheap, check out the boneless ribs. Â The food isn't going to knock your socks off, but it's okay for what it is.
The sandwiches and wraps are the way to go. Â The Gallaway Bay has a ton of flavor, and tends to be consistently good. Â Stay away from the burgers. Â I don't know how they manage it, but they're always dry. Â You can order a burger that's 90% pink, and it'll still be dry. Â Maybe it's just the leanest beef on Earth. Â Who knows, but it's just not good.
For a small bar, the tap list is pretty good. Â It's also constantly evolving. Â I believe the first time I went there, they had your Budweisers and Coors and Millers on tap, and then one tap dedicated to Harpoon IPA. Â Now, they've got Dogfish Head, Cider on tap, and a few other stray craft beers in there.
On the weekends, at night, you'll find a younger crowd at Smokeys. Â They have karaoke, live bands, and DJs quite often. Â You can have a really good time here. Â If you're in the area, check it out.
First time visit today. Waitress was very nice and helpful, food prices reasonable (7.95 for typical sandwich with pickle, cole slaw and a choice of sides) - but pulled pork sandwich was too fatty with not enough sauce, and the sweet potato fries were tasteless. I don't think I've ever had sweet potato fries that I didn't like before
