Southern Belle Grill

An all right little diner in a strip shopping center, I had lunch here on the recommendation of a local business owner. The food itself was just ok. Not really bad, just not really great either. My server told me the best selling item on the menu was the Hamburger Steak. So, that's what I ordered. I chose "Black Eyed Pea stew" and Chicken Gumbo for my side dishes. The Black Eyed Pea Stew was a really good idea, Black Eyed Peas with stewed tomatoes and a bit of what looked like sausage. It looked good it just had almost no flavor to it at all. Some seasoning could make it an interesting and yummy dish. The "gumbo" was some kind of chicken, veggie soup but not gumbo. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't gumbo. The Hamburger steak was a hand patted hunk of meat, not overcooked, served with a brown gravy and onions. It was all right.
I hope these folks make it here, I think they are really trying, the staff is super friendly and eager to please.
